Im writing this in the early hours of the morning, kicking myself because I ran out of quinine. I haven't had to take it for over a . year now. I've taken it off and on for 12 years now. I buy straight cinchona bark, powder, then capsule it. It's worked to completely remove my RLS within 24hours. I will take for a week then get off. Without the quinine I was lost.

Quinine for RLS
That's great for you.
Quinine can have effects on some heart conditions, so you might want to check with your Dr.
If you find it effective otherwise, then I'd say keep going.
Having said that, medically, it has not been shown to have any effect for RLS, other than as a placebo.
However, as I've said, if it works for you ,then keep going!!!
All the best.
I agree with Madlegs1. It can only help with leg cramps. It can cause life-threatening anemia and liver damage. There are safer treatments for RLS.
Have you had your ferritin checked?
OMGosh I had completely forgotten quinine! I had taken it for years for my RLS before I even knew there was a name for what I had. All I knew was the description on the box was kind similiar to what I had & started taking it untill it came off the market. I was fine until my diagnosis of MS & within months back into “RLS” but much worse. Going to ask my Neurologist about using quinine again.
I took quinine (via tonic water) for the nightly leg/hip/foot cramps due to muscle loss. It worked and my cramps are mostly gone since I've been able to regain 'some' of my muscle mass. A year after covid and I'm still working on it...
I had been prescriber Quinine for my RLS but read that it was contraindicated according to the FDA due to safety concerns . I did not fill the script.
