Ferrous iron sulfate recommendation

I’m a blood cancer patient and my hematologist/oncologist has just given me the go-ahead to supplement with 325 mg of ferrous iron sulfate and 100 to 200 mg of vitamin C every other night due to my low ferritin level. There are so many brands and varieties to choose from on Amazon that it is a bit confusing and overwhelming. Does the group have any specific product recommendations based on your experience?

I used Nature Made but any would do.

Personally, I had trouble with the "over the counter" Iron. I spent about 6 months trying all different brands. Then my doctor prescribed Liquid Ferrous Sulfate. No prescription is required, I have to ask the pharmisist, It is behind the counter. That worked and I used it for several years.

After that I switched to ferrous bisglycinate. "Ferrochel" is the brand name. It is effective at keeping my ferritin near 200. Remember to take iron on an empty stomach, nothing to eat two hours before or one hour afterwards.

Did they check your Vitamin D levels? Taking Vit D with a fatty meal can help iron absorption.

Most iron supplements are constipating. The Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate is better absorbed and doesn't promote constipation. It is a patented formula so any brand will work. It is confusing as to how much iron you are actually taking 18mg Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate vs 325 Ferrous Sulfate. More info here...
