Hi, to some extent it's irrelevant what RLS meds you're on.

It's the fact that you have RLS that's the problem.

RLS meds - You may be thinking of pregabalin/gabapentin OR dopamine agonists e.g. rotigotine (neupro patch)

These in themselves may cause nausea, but I don't think that's what your concern is.

To some extent the answer is what do you want the sea sick tablets for? Is it simple motion sickness?

If that's the case then I'd say that most anti-emetics can make RLS worse, because they are often dopamine antagonists i.e. the opposite of dopamine agonists or sedating antihistamines.

Some herbal remedies for motion sickness may be helpful, arrowroot and ginger can be helpful.

A simple device, a "sea band" that you put on your wrist can be helpful.

Motion sickness can be caused by your brains confusion about whether you're moving or not. That is, your inner ears are telling your brain that you are moving, but your eyes may be telling it you're not.

Hence, try to give your brain the same message from both. E.g. if in a road vehicle, sit in front and look out of the vehicle. Don't close your eyes or read. If on a ship outside any cabin or keep your eyes on the sea.

Kwells don't worsen RLS. If it's more severe nausea, zofran is safe but in the UK only available by hospital prescription.I have recently taken my medical cannabis oil ( with THC) as chemo patients use cannabis for extreme nausea.

If it's dopamine agonists that are causing nausea, have you just started on them?

Thanks Manerva & Joolsg! I am going on a cruise & wondering what meds I could use if I get seasick. I am currently using Neupro patches… I have been on cruises before & last one was very seasick.. but hit a transatlantic storm..was offered meds by the medical staff but refused as I would rather be seasick then have my RLS go berserk!!!

Thanks for the advice.. Much appreciated xx

You can also safely use the transderm Scop patch for seasickness.
