Another night without sleep I’m getting to my bands end don’t know what to do anymore the legs are bad and no sleep my regime has been one Pramipexole 0.088mg at 9pm and two codeine 75 mg but not doing anymore I’m thinking of swapping the Pramipexole for a 75mg pregabalin tonight any thoughts? Would it be safe to do so or should I cut back on the Pramipexole first? I think the 0.088mg may be the lowest dosage? Willing to try anything I’m worn out with lack of sleep my insomnia may not be 100% due to rls but my brain is a bit scrambled today

You can take BOTH pregabalin and pramipexole. Do NOT "swap" you will get withdrawal effects.

You may have to increase the pregabalin as you reduce the pramipexole. 75mg may not be enough , the minumum effective dose is about 150mg.

Pregabalin also takes 3 - 4 weeks to work and also will do little to reduce withdrawals. The codiene should help with that.

As you're having so much difficulty I would suggest you reduce the dose by 0.022mg every two weeks or so, that is a quarter of a 0.088mg tablet, you will need a very sharp knife and a magnifying glass.

V difficult to cut the Pramipexole into such small pieces as it’s such a small dose to start with 0.088mg I would not think it would be so critical I’ll try half a tablet tonight coupled with a 75mg pregabalin and see how things go

Please take on boarding the advice from Manerva, he helped me when I was withdrawing from Pramipexole and his advice is excellent. When I was at the point you are now, it was extremely difficult to cope. I also used (endone) 5mg oxycodone to help me. If you are going to use Pregabalin, you will need a much higher dose than the 75mg you mentioned.

For me, the Pramipexole is now a good 7 months out of my system and I am currently using Temgesic sublingual 200mcg tablets to control my RLS. I place two Temgesic tablets under my tongue each evening an hour before going to bed. Temgesic is micro dosages of Buprenorphine.

Kind regards Julie McGowan from Western Australia

Pregabalin can help with withdrawals. 150mg about 1 hour before bed. I agree with Manerva, I have been there, I just can’t explain it as well. Hang in there, it takes time but it does get better.

I take 2x 350 microgram Pramipexole each night PLUS a glass of tonic water and can sleep without the twitches. It’s the quinine in the tonic water that helps. Try that.

Hi I understand how you must be feeling as I have been there. What I would say is you need to speak to the doctor. Pramipexole works but you need them to advise you Re the dose. Please don’t take anything more until you have been advised. I know how desperate it gets. Pramipexole at the right dose will feel like a wonder drug, however, you risk augmentation. The dose keeps going up and up. Good luck x

I can completely relate to what you were going through. I have spent the last year getting maybe two or three hours sleep every other night. I have tried just about everything. Gabapentin, Lyrica, Tramadol, Klonopin, Ropinirole, Quinine, Magnesium, Iron, Cumin, soap under the sheets, dryer under the sheets, lavender liquid soap rubbed on my legs, various brands of leg cramp cream, Pickles, leg compression stockings, electric Massager, tens unit, anti-inflammatory food diet, walking, Just to name a few. I get headaches almost every day now, Have trouble concentrating, memory issues, stomach issues And feel completely exhausted. I spend most of my nights crying. I own my own business and can’t seem to get it together to get work done. My motivation is down and I’m sure I’m depressed as well. I wish I had a solution to offer you. Hopefully you can find comfort in knowing you are not alone at least.

I completely sympathies with you I’ve spent a lot of time and different meds trying for relief and I too pace the bedroom floor each night and at the early hours cry for relief and sleep. I tried a doctor who advertised a CURE for 80 per cent of patients I went for four sessions at great cost and travel it took 4 trains and a bus trip to get there and the cost of treatment it proves to be a waste of Time and money but when your desperate like I was you try anything. Thanks for taking the time to contact me

I’m so sorry to hear that. I would have probably done the same thing. It really is true the lengths we will go to in order to get relief. I pray that someone out there figured this out. God knows we all desperately need a solution that doesn’t involve more drugs with all the serious side effects.
