Thank you for sharing this. It's good to hear you're getting better.

Good that you're reducung the citalopram if you can, it does make RLS worse.

Great also that your Dr has advised iron tablets. The most effective way of taking these is -

1) Take them 30 mins before or 2 hours after eating.

2) Take a vitmain C tablet or drink a glass of orange at the same time

3) Takethem once every two days, not daily.

Hopefully your DR warned you of the risk of possible complications that ropinirole can cause. The higher the dose, the greater the risk. Your DR has apparently prescribed a dose greater than the recommended maxiumum of 4mg daily.

This is just to forewarn you of the possibility, I hope you continue to improve.

Hi Manerva,

Hope your RLS isn’t keeping you up tonight?

How much Vit C do you think we should take with how much iron?

Thankyou for al, your interesting and knowledgeable info.

To be honest I never bother about dosages of food supplements.

They usually come in dosages that are based on their RDA.

I always drink.orange anyway, but don't ask me how much.

How big is a glass?

I expect you drink fresh orange juice as opposed to shop bought orange juice.I don’t drink orange juice because of my arthritis.

Back to bed for an hour or so hopefully sleep!

Have a good day.

Citalopram is contraindicated with Ropinirole which may be your reason for coming off it. I was on both and when I found out stopped taking C. My RLS is 90% better😃 I’m in the throes of a nervous breakdown triggered by coming off suddenly so you are right to take it slowly. I hope yourRLS improves as dramatically as mine.

Can you confirm the dose? 6mg of Ropinirole is way too high. Experts now recommend a maximum dose of 1mg. The higher the dose the greater the risk of Augmentation.

As you’re 76- have you been on other meds or is this the first RLS med you’ve tried?

As others have advised, Citalopram causes or worsens RLS.

I just worry that it will be hell on earth to get off such a high dose of Ropinirole at your age and wonder whether your Doctor warned you in detail about Impulse Control Disorder and the high risk of Augmentation?
