Might work for you too!

I've had five nights now without RLS. Quit taking Sertraline and with MDs' okay I'm taking .25 mg of Alprazolam each evening. I also started twice daily on 28 mg of Iron supplement and 500 mg of Magnesium. RLS Symptoms are just about totally gone...Just a slight twinge once in a while, easy to ignore.

This is great!

Just to say that the iron will be more effective if you only take it once every two days.

When you take a dose of iron, the body responds by releasing a hormone called hepcidin which prevents you from absorbing any more iron for up to 24 hours.

No point in taking it twice in one day then, nor even the next day.

Also, to aid absorption, it's best to take it 30mins before or 2 hours after eating along with a glass of orange or a vit C tablet.

And not at the same time as the magnesium!

In addition, it can take a while for iron to have any effect, up to 3 months.

It's most likely that your improvement comes from stopping the sertraline and I hope this continues to be successful for you.

I hope you are doing a slow taper of the Sertaline (Zoloft) - there can be withdrawal symptoms lasting into weeks.

Iron of RLS can be dramatic - it was for me. As suggested, take it every other day and couple it with some amount of Vitamin C. I you are not taking Ferrous Bisglycinate Chelate (also called Gentle Iron) - you could switch to it if you have gastro issues.

Thanks! Right now I'm doing great . All I do now is take a .25mg tablet of Alprazolam (Xanax) about an hour before bedtime. I take one 500mg of Magnesium every other day and 28mg of Iron Glycinate every other day. Alternating days between the two so they don't "confuse" each other. Other than that I just dissolve two tablets of "Relaxing Legs" under my tongue at bedtime. This is an OTC that can be found at most pharmacies. Whatever...It is working for me. I usually read for about an hour or so after going to bed and no RLS has been by to visit now for a week. I quit the "Restavin" . It is rather pricey and foul tasting.
