Can RLS ever cause one area to just really hurt but not have the urge to move?? Recently my left shoulder, I guess it would be the ball socket, in the middle of the night will just go off. It will last only a short while, 10-15 minutes then stop. Never during the day.

Shoulder Pain
It’s unrelated if there’s no urge to move
Hi Woody, RLS IS the urge to move, it's THE principal characteristic symptom that gives the RL syndrome its name.
According to the diagnostic criteria for RLS, if you dont have the urge to move, then you don't have RLS.
If you mean you don't have just the urge to move your shoulder, but have it elsewhere then OK.
My guess is, that the shoulder pain is something else and if it's worrying you, see your doctor.
Kind of what I was thinking too. Just know that if it was anyway possibly connected to RLS this group would know.
Thanks to all that replied!!

May be it is the way you are lying. If you turn over to the other side when sleeping, does the pain go?
It’s my left shoulder. I can be laying on that side with no problem, turn over and shortly it will start. Turn back over and it still hurts.
Try sleeping on your back rather than on either side. Sleep on your right side turn on your back and if you turn again to back to the right. It might be altered pressure on nerve and muscle. You might find a change of pillow helps. You can get muscle pulls from lifting or pushing heavy objects. Even when you climb on a bus reaching a handle it can start. There is a deep heat rub which can help pain . As it settles down it may cutaneous nerve pressure . If you have pain in the arms as well as shoulder you should check with your doctor. Any pain in the face jaw neck shoulder should be checked . Take care.
Thanks, every reply is appreciated.
