I have been taking ropinarole now for 10 years and I started on 1mg and now on 3mg over the day and night. Just recently I have had a burning feeling that starts in my buttock and travels down my thigh just like scistica I suppose. I went to the doctors who said it wasn't sciatic but perhaps inflammation but I don't think it is. Has anyone else had these sort of symptoms.

Burning pain
"Meralgia paresthetica is a condition characterized by tingling, numbness and burning pain in the outer part of your thigh. The condition is caused by compression of the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve, which supplies sensation to your upper leg.Mar 8, 2018"
Does this sound like what you are experiencing?
It can occur after a car accident, where the seat belt cuts into the nerve. Or a too tight belt. Very like sciatica. Mine burns and itches like hell. Very little can be done, but there is a stretch on YouTube which may help. Check "flossing parasthetica".
Good luck.
Wow, thanks Madlegs, that's a new item to add to my list of causes of burning pain.
On reading however, I note meralgia typically mentions that the pain affects both thighs and no mention of pain in the buttock.
If it's only one side then it's more likely to be inflammation or neuropathy.
I wonder what your doctor did to conclude it wasn't nerve pain? Did he/she test your reflexes, leg flexion etc. Did they ask what made it worse or better?
You can to some extent tell whether it's nerve pain or not according to exactly where it occurs. Typically nerve pain in buttock or leg can be a result of a compressed nerve in the lumbar spine. Nerves coming from different spaces in the lumbar spine go to different parts of the leg. If it's nerve pain then, you can tell from the pattern of the pain.
If it's inflammation, I wonder what it is exactly inflammation of. Did the doctor say. Inflammation around a spinal nerve root can cause or exacerbate nerve pain.
Complicated isn't it?
I have had burning pains, numbness and tingling in my left leg, mainly, for years. The pattern suggested nerve pain arising from the space between L4 and L5. In 2017 this was confirmed by an MRI. I was prescribed amitriptyline.
In 2018 I had almost unbearable pain and my GP prescribed Naproxen, (an anti-inflammatory) and changed the amitriptyline to Gabapentin. He added codeine phosphate for breakthrough pain.
It worked and coincidentally my RLS improved!
Whether your pain is nerve pain, nerve pain caused by inflammation or just inflammation, I hope your doctor prescribed something like Naproxen, it might work for any of those.
I also got some exercises from a physiotherapist, saw an osreopath and had some acupuncture. It all helped.
The pain, that is, not the RLS.

The doctor had me moving my leg from side to side and up and down and said it's not sciatic. She recommended Naproxen which I already had from my knee replacement but it didn't really help. I have looked up what Madlegs said and it does sound just like that.
Thanks for your reply Manerva I really should go back to the doctors because it could be nerve pain like you mentioned she just said it sounds like inflammation and to take Naproxen which like I said didn't help.
Going back sounds a good plan. From what you say, Madlegs could be right.
Parasthetica can be unilateral- just the same as sciatica. The nerve follows the same pathway through the hip as the sciatic nerve. Very difficult to get at- which is why surgeons are reluctant to go there. NSAIDs will help due to their anti-inflammatory action.

Do you think naproxen helps with RLS? I had attempted to cut bk on mirapex, (couldn’t do it) on one of those horrible days of withdrawals symptoms, I took naproxen in less than 5min I was sleeping 😴 no pain. Could it be that I don’t have RLS?
A simple test for rls is exactly what you've discovered. If Paracetamol / Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen give relief, then it is very likely NOT rls.
Possibly a nueropathic disorder.
I'm delighted something simple has worked for you.
Too much Naproxen can be damaging for the tummy. There are ones that have a barrier for digestion.
All the best.
Yes I have the same thing. I recently hurt myself in Pilates class. I am seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis and it is healing. It is so painful.
Hi Bumblebee88, I have not had one night of rls since I stopped drinking bottled water (or any drinks, Gatorade, etc.)loaded with sodium and stopped eating snacks covered in “flavor dust”.
I don't really drink bottled water but do snack so will watch out for that so thank you for your reply.
I have. It is sciatica. Does the burning pain go when you sit down. If it does then it probably is.
I was dignosed with PLMS last year and started to experience the same sensations as you. At first I thought they maybe the standard tingling sensations which you read about people being associated with RLS but I was also getting pins and needle and heavy burning sensation on the top of my upper legs, What made me change my mind and think it is scistica is the tender ache on the underside of the upper legs as well . This is typical of scistica.
