I recently ran across a research study on the serious damage done by the carbidopa in Sinemet (generic = carbidopa levodopa). It is a documented cause of a striking increase in deaths in Parkinson’s sufferers since it was added to L-dopa (levodopa), and since people with RLS often are prescribed the same drug (Sinemet), the same damage is (not may, but IS) occurring in them—damage leading to “nutritional collapse” and death. Now is a very good time to get off that drug, if you are taking it. The link to the research study is here: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

Carbidopa in Sinemet very harmful.
This is very disturbing!
That is worrying, Sinemet has been around for decades.
This shows that although new medicines are vigorously tested before being released for general use there can still be problems with them.
Additionally longer term problems don't show up for years.
Fortunately for RLS sufferers Sinemet isn't recommended..
The recommended first line meds to be taken regularly fir RLS are dopamine agonists or alpha2delta ligands.
I have read some recommendations that L Dopa can be used when needed for intermittent RLS. (that only happens 2 or 3 times a month), but not as a daily thing. The main danger with L Dopa is augmentation.
What is more worrying, for RLS sufferers, is that despite dopamine agonists causing the horrendous consequences of augmentation, it is still, apparently not mentioned in the information leaflet that comes with the tablets, (patches).
It's also worrying that in the UK, despite the national guidelines for the management of RLS stating that patients should be made aware of the risk of augmentation due to dopamine agonists, it seems, doctors rarely do that.
Furthermore, members of this forum often state that their doctors have never heard of augmentation.
Since Sinemet isn't even mentioned in the guidelines, RLS sufferers shouldn't be too worried about your news.
However, for someone with Parkinsons Disease, it is disturbing.
