Just curious if anyone has tried oral lavender oil capsules?
My son is getting good results .
I just read an article saying it slows down the central nervous system .

I'm not sure what "slowing down" the central nervous system means! Did it actually say that?
I could find that useful, I live in a different time dimension to most people. A lot of people to me, seem to live in slow motion. I get quite aggravated with it.
Hi Manerva ,
Sorry for my late reply I have been travelling at not online as much .
I am sure you have googled this now .
I can’t seem to find the exact article again .
It did say it slows down the central nervous system , also warned to stop 2 weeks prior to surgery as it may slow down the central system to much in combination with anaesthetic.
Also not compatible with some medications .
🙂
I found a few articles on this.
It has been found that Lavender (in varuous forms) decreases "Autonomic" nervous system activity, particularly, it seems the "Sympathetic" branch. Since this particular aspect of the nervous system is involved with the stress response, Lavender, in effect relieves anxiety.
It also appears to promote more "alpha waves" on an EEG (ElectroEncephaloGraph). When present, these waves, (about 10 cycles a second) indiicate alert relaxation.
EEG waves are faster when aroused and slower when calmer.
So it's in this sense that Lavender works, it does NOT "slow down" the entire nervous system, but it does promote slower brain waves i.e. relaxation.
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/226...
etc
Therefore using lavender to relax and help promote sleep is a great idea.
I'm not sure what your experience is, but I know lots of things to help relaxation, none of them really work when I have a RLS episode. but if you feel less anxious about it, that's some help.
I have never taken lavender orally but have lavender crystals by my bed each night in a box that I refresh with lavender oil every few weeks...but would be interested to know more....my RLS starts late evening but not every day....
I have not heard of this.Where was the article?
Sorry Jumpey
I could not find it again
However it said it slows down the central nervous system and must be stopped 2 weeks prior to anesthetiser as it could slow the central nervous system to much .
Also check medication contradictions with medications .
My son only is not on any other meds
Lucky him now he is sleeping however it does not help the pain and he wakes up feeling like he has been boxing all night
🙂
No sorry -Ive never tried it -isn't that dangerous if it slows dow the nervous system
Not dangerous at all, it means that it slows down brain waves as recorded on an EEG (Electro Encephalo Graph).
This is good, as it indicates relaxatiion.
Hi Manerva. Thats good I had my first riding lesson tonight Wednesday 9th October 2 months after not being able to go due to the injury. My riding instructor took it very easy with me -just doing some walking & trotting -which I'll be doing until my "seat" is comfortable with taking bumps. I rode one of my favourite horses -Tequilla. I asked after my top favourite -the beautiful grey called Sunny -only to find that his owner sold it behind my instructor's back & found a picture of him online -so shes annoyed with her for her discourteousness-which totally shocked me My instructor tried to buy him back so she could keep him on the school & the owner refused & sold it to someone I hope he has a good life & not mistreated.
When I got home & mum went I looked at the picture on my placemat of me on him & just broke down in tears So I am feeling very upset & down -I felt like I'd had a punch in my stomach before I mounted up onto Tequilla . I will miss Sunny so much.Tequilla has has moved up into no 1 space now of my favourite horses between her & Sunny
