Anti Depressant Valdoxan and Restless Legs

Here is another question if you can help. I've been told about a 'new' anti-depressant called Valdoxan and wonder if anyone has any experience of it with RL or any information about it's use with RL.

I can't get three of the ones mentioned that are compatible due to restrictions here and the last one I tried and was so sick on it I couldn't continue. I was on an SSRI for 30 years and weaned off it in Jan/Feb to try to help my legs and ever since have been 'fragile' so looking for some support with my mood and anxiety. I'm meditating and studying mindfulness and have lots of 'tools' to use but have lots of stresses in my life that I can't change and need to be stable enough to deal with. Again, any ideas?

I have no experience or other than ‘google’-knowledge about antidepressants. Fortunately.

I would like to suggest that you write Dr Buchfuhrer for advice. Ye may know. He has an extensive section on his website on antidepressants and their interaction with RLS. He replies quickly, within 1-2 days. See the yellow icon on the home page of his website rlshelp.org. The address is somno@verizon.net.

Hi Lotte, lovely to get a response from you. Dr B did reply when I was augmenting on DAs and was very helpful. Thank you for that advice. I will do that straight away.

Good for you to get off the SSRI after that length of time. Maybe some good information for you here, Kelly Brogan, a holistic psychiatrist...

hi Restlessstoz

My doctor is talking about Valdoxan for me. How did you go with it? Did you get onto Dr B about it.?

I would be interested to know. ThanK

Hi Runninglegs2, I never did get on Valdoxan and I haven't any recollection of why! I ended up with Venlafaxine after my GP thought very deeply about it. I tried the smallest possible dose first and had no side effects whatsoever but I noticed an improvement in my mental fragility by the third day. I went up to 75mg which is still a low dose to be on and have found it has completely stabilized my mood and 'fragility'. I have no apparent side effects at all. I hope this information might help you. :)

great. Thanks for that. Glad to hear you have found something that works for you. I have been on cymbalta which is in the same class of antidepressants as Venlafaxine but unfortunately it triggers my restless legs quite badly. Thanks again for your reply.
