I have the neupro itch

My Gp has prescribed an anti histamine loratadine

My rls is getting worse

Can it be the loratidine?

If so,are there any anti histamines that are safe for rls sufferers?

thanks in advance for any help

Loratidine (claritin) is considered safe so it is strange it bothers you, but everyone is different. Try stopping it for a couple days to see if that is why your RLS is worse. If you still have problems zyrtec ( Cetirizine ) or allegra are safe. Both are OTC.

Loratedine is usually safe. Try cetirizine for a few days. If that doesn't help, it could be the Neupro patch that is causing the worsening RLS. In the UK, it's usually given after Ropinirole or Pramipexole have caused RLS to worsen. If that is the case, it's highly likely to be the Patch causing drug induced worsening. If you are noticing the RLS getting worse, starting earlier in the day and increasing in severity it could be augmentation again.

Look up Augmentation so you keep an eye on it.

Reducing the patch will be difficult, so you may need a referral to a sleep clinic that knows about augmentation and will prescribe low dose opioids to get you through it.

You are lucky because it makes RLS worse for most.
