If Cetrine ( ceterizine) 10mg works for you, it shouldn't set off the legs.

It's OTC here in Ireland, but I think there is a stronger version which may have to be prescribed.

There is another one, but I don't know the name.

Otherwise try putting a smear of vaseline in the nostrils, to catch the pollen before it gets any further.

Good luck.

Hi Lucyjane

One thing I can use - and my husband uses all the time as it's the one thing that works for him - are a homeopathic/alternative called New Era Tissue Salts Combination H (for Nose and Sinus). You can find them online. The dosage is 4-8 tablets (which dissolve on the tongue) 3 x per day. There are 240 in one pot.

When we first used them it said you could take as many as you wanted to kick start it and then reduce the dose down to the normal one, and when I get a sudden bout, that's what I do. They're not cheap, but we find them very helpful.

My immune system is extremely sensitive. Im on the 81 aspirins and my arms and legs are full of bruises. I can't take ANYTHING. I get RLS from some, hives, from others.

Hi Barbee44 What do you mean by "81 aspirins?" Do you take aspirin for heart problems? I take medications for hypertension (ACE inhibitor), Procardia XL for Raynaud's Disease, and Simvistatin one for high cholestrol. Additionally, take Warfarin for previous stroke. I understand all the bruising. Warfarin causes that as well. See my post to LucyJane29 among these posts. Mine is very long but maybe my suggestions can be helpful to you.

I use Benadryl. NOT the daily one, but the one that contains acravastine and works in 15 minutes. Never have a problem with these and take them regularly.

Unusual that Benadryl doesn’t affect your RLS. It’s one of the drugs listed that makes it worse.

It’s not the daily one that contains digydrochloride, it’s the 6 hour one that contains acrivastine (blue and white box)

Allegra, Clarinex and Claritin. Possibly Zyrtec.

Allegra works wonders for me, it doesn’t have any side effects and won’t interfere with RLS. Good luck.

Beconase nasal spray RLS friendly.

Lucyjane29, YES! I use a topical nasal spray that blocks antihistimines in the nose. OTC spray is called "Nasacort." (It used to be a Prescription only spray but has since been declassified to an Over the Counter remedy). The Generic brand is "Triamcinolone Acetonide" and works the same way only is less expensive.

I've had nasal allergies since I was a child in the 1950's. I took 'allergy shots' to combat the myriad of allergies (tree pollens, grass pollens, flowering trees, flowers, dust, mold, dust mites). Also allergic to chemicals such as found in cleaning supplies, Perfumes, the smell of gasoline, skin allergies (rashes, intense itching in ears, eyes, throat), Chalk Dust and products used to clean White boards (I'm a former school teacher). I'm even allergic to some of the Prescription Only Nasal Sprays because the agent formula the medicines are 'carried' in smell like Rose Water which destroys me. I've tried everything

,I am 69 now and have stopped allergy injections because they no longer work. I had been using an OTC regular nasal spray which helped but, used a lot of it. Tried a host of other products recommended by the different allergists who have treated me. (I have lived in several different parts of the country, so all my allergy shots had to be Tailored to those specific geographical regions and their pollens).

FINALLY, my last Allergist tried NASACORT. Worked better than anything I ever tried. But, it was and still is extremely expensive and I'm on a limited budget. Then found the Generic Formula called TRIAMCIOLONE (OTC) has the same ingredients but half the cost. It doesn't taste good if it drips down your throat. My last allergist showed me how to spray in nostrils, then Immediately bend over with head pointing toward the floor, take hand and gently massage around my sinuses to get the liquid down into all parts of nasal cavities. I do that ONCE or TWICE a day and have for Many, Many years. NO side effects, does NOT bother my RLS, no cramping, no interactions with all my Many other medications. Just blessed relief.

By the way, you CAN try Allegra, Claratin, Zyrtec. Allegra Claritin Don't Work for me. (I have had MANY REACTIONS to so many types of Allergy medicines, as well as others for my other health issues). My allergies are very bad. I DO TAKE an OLDER type of pill called Hydroxizine (brand name might be Zyrtec- older brand that controls itchy skin [25 mg pills...take 6 a day]. There are NO brands except Hydroxizine that work for me). BUT, Hydroxizine Doesn't touch my nasal allergies. The only thing that has ever worked for my nasal allergies is Triamcinolone (Nasacort). I've tried them all. Just rinse out your mouth and gargle after using to get rid of taste. Hope this helps!

I also use Nasacort every morning. For me it works better than Flonase and other OTC ones.

The generic has all the same ingredients and can a double pack for the price of one bottle of Nasacort. They work great.

My GP has prescribed Avamys nasal spray which does help. It's more expensive than the usual prescription nasal spray but its thicker and you don't loose half of it after you've sprayed! The surgery weren't keen on prescribing Avamys but I explained I couldn't take the tablets because of RLS so they agreed.
