I really don't have time to rewrite the whole book on RLS.

Perhaps you could spend a happy hour (time well worth spending) on reading through the last two weeks of posts- there is a wealth of advice- including a reference to Kinesiology and a herbal recipe therein.

Then there is an excellent site- rlshelp.org- that is run by a world expert on rls who will answer your emails. There are search facilities on both that site and this one. I'm sure if you enter" Herbal remedies" and "healing activities" in there , something will come up.

Let us know how you get on- you are part of a scientific study being carried out by myself.😊😎

Hi Mhye

Some sufferers find that Epsom salt baths help. Add Epsom Salts to the search box and there are at least two threads on this subject.

Others find magnesium spray used on the legs helps. Add magnesium spray to the search box where you will find numerous threads about this too.

Make sure you are not taking any "Meds to Avoid" when suffering with RLS. Here is a link to some of them rls-uk.org/treatment/ taken from the RLS-UK website rls-uk.org

Some find exercise helps, others do not.

I hope that helps.

Thank you very much for your response. I will try everything and see what works for me! Really appreciate it!

Luck you! You've found a place where people understand and wont belittle your suffering by saying "Yeah I get that when I'm on long haul journeys" Yeah? Try having it every day of your life then tell me how easy it is to deal with!!!

Lot of good info, advice and support here. Hope you get relief.

Non drug options are

1) Light exercise in the early evening

2) Hot baths and showers.

3) Feet in really cold water.

4) Iron, gentle Iron to be specific - you'll get plenty of info from the search bar.

5) Rest - my RLS is worse when I am tired or frazzled.

6) Relaxis pad - as far as I know only available in USA at the moment but double check.

7) SEX - great distraction and increases dopamine in the brain.

8) L-Dopa - a supplement to increase dopamine in the brain

9) SEX, did I mention sex was good?

10) Cut out caffeine and alcohol

11) Check you are not on any drugs that would make it worse - anti-depressants & anti-histamines are two common culprits but there are many more.

rlshelp.org

&

rls-uk.org

are two very useful sites. The first is run by a Dr who will answer your queries without charge, (bit pedantic on spelling and grammar but since he is offering his services free I wouldn't complain but if you are going to contact him no abbreviations, proper spelling, etc is a must)

Hope that helps

Take care.

I have had very good experience with a no drug approach, just a diet. If you are interested please let me know. It costs nothing except some assistance from your own doctor and dietician.

I have made many posts to this forum where I suggested a diet called the FODMAP diet. I suggest you search for FODMAP or Graham3196 and read these posts . The FODMAP diet was a vast improvement over everything else I have tried. I am sure it has extended my life. Let me know if you have any trouble finding out about the diet from these posts and I will answer any questions I can.

I know some people have success with some of the various over the counter remedies but none of them have worked at all for me. I heard of a woman who had success with essential oils but I don't know which ones. My legs did seem to improve slightly when I went on a very low carb diet (no sugar, processed foods, dairy, bread, rice, pasta etc) but I was too weak willed to maintain it for more than a few months and the improvement was not particularly pronounced.

Kratom is a plant based non-prescription drug which many find quite helpful but I'm not sure if it would fall within the usual understanding of 'herbal remedies' ... it has been banned in a number of European countries ...
