Hello I live in the US, and have started on the patch. I can receive a one year discount through the Neupro company,$10.00 a month. However without discount and my insurance it is $130.00 a month, I can't afford that payment. So what do people do after one year to help affort to pay for the patch prescription?

Neuro patch
Oh how much I feel for our American brothers and sisters. I wont get all political but the land of the free is anything but!
There are no generic versions of the patch so you are going to have to pay premium prices to the drug company. Add into that you have to relay on insurance in the US - Viva la NHS!
I assume you have done all you can do for yourself - cut out alcohol, caffeine, dairy, gluten and sugar and added gentle Iron to your diet, (trusting that you can add Iron). These steps can greatly reduce if not cut out the need for drug intervention in many.
Your only alternative at this juncture, that I can see, is to get another/new job so you can afford the drug or seek alternative drugs such as an opiate or the likes of Lyrica. You can get some ideas from here:
rlshelp.org. (just click on treatment link on left side of page)
You could also contact Dr B who runs that outfit for a free consultation via email, yes you read that correctly an American Dr is giving his valuable time freely to help others. He may be able to advise on a cheaper drug.
You've one other option - emigrate! OK so I am being facetious with that last comment but it is also to highlight the predicament you are in.
Are there any philanthropic organisations you can contact that may help fund you? Its a bit of a long shot that one but its all I can think of.
I hope that helps, good luck.
Raffs, you are being very raffish. Thanks for the smile.
Everything is political, one way or another.
I just can't help myself - could you imagine knowing me in real life, God help my family
I try to joke about things like that but that stuff really gets to me. There is a US vet on here who has been left hanging by his country after he put his life on the line for them ( no he didn't save the US by worming Hassanal Bolkiah's favourite cat - he's the other sort of vet).
When he posted about not being able to get the drugs and treatment he needs, (I think he is in a similar position to the OP's), it really bugged me for a long time that some one could offer EVERYTHING they have and get f**k all and a handshake in return. I know how bad I have suffered and I give thanks daily I have the NHS to look after me.
I have friends (some online buddies and a couple of relatives actually) who went in the US army to get through school one of them seen service proper and ended up at the end of a rope! It burns me to think they too will be thanked the same.
Anyway, time to put my soapbox away.
I like your soapbox, we need more of you. Carry on.
Thanks
I talked to the company- I get it for $10 too- and they said the following years I can get it for $10 as well. I hope they told me right...
Excellent
Just be sure to read up on "augmentation' so that you can be fore-armed in case you turn out to be one of those who will suffer from it in the future.
It is still a long way away, if it comes at all, so enjoy your sleep without going broke.
Yes, trust me, I’ve struggled horribly the last 10 years and have read/tried everything. Survival is the goal....I hope to go as long as possible on this low dose...and pray there is a better solution when/if it stops working.
Thanks
Yes. I believe you were told correctly. As of now, you just have to continue once a year to resubscribe for the "coupon" allowing the $10 copay.
I live in the UK and was on the Neupro patch which l got free on prescription but approximately 2years on the patch l suffered augmentation, l wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I take gabapentin 1200 daily with codiene30mls at bedtime, it has helped my RLS emmencely
Do you have to go on the patches or is there an alternative you can try.
I wish you all the best with this dreadful desease x
I have been buying Neupro patches for more than a year and receiving the rebate which makes my copay $10. I did have to sign up with with McKesson online, and I do have to send paperwork with invoices from my pharmacy. I have had no problems receiving checks for the rebate.
Thanks
