My meeting with Dr. Winkleman went pretty much how I expected. I knew it would mainly be med changes. One of which is ropinerole which I've been on for many years. Augmented last summer and along with my PCP we tried various meds . Ended up back on ropinirole along with lyrica 150 and lyrica 75 and zolpidem. Changes in this.....gradually cut down on ropinirole, up lyrica to 1 300 mg, no zolpidem, off prosaic and up bupropion. So I started last Thursday ...my dosage has been 3 ropinirole- 6mg,.....Started taking. 5 and 1/2 mg and have done this for 6 nights, also cutting down on zolpidem. My lyrica is now 300 mg. I use marijuana as well using an indica vape oil. My first 2 nights went with no symptoms.....I also note that since Feb. I had been symptom free but knew that would change with ropinirole w/drawal. The 3rd night it started but mild, in the arms. 4th nigh a little bit more. Right now it is 4 PM and I began feeling "that feeling"....has not happened in a long time. Not looking forward to what is to come. I remember sometime ago I saw a response about how to do a very gradual w/drawal from ropinirole . Many thanks also to recent comments concerning my present situation!
Ropinerole: My meeting with Dr... - Restless Legs Syn...
Ropinerole
You’re in good hands Tweedy. Dr Winkleman is a top RLS expert.
I wish you strength getting off Ropinirole. It is brutal but once off it you’ll be in a much better position.
If the Lyrica doesn’t settle the RLS, Dr Winkleman is a doctor who will prescribe opioids- his preference is methadone.
The marijuana will help during the sleepless nights to come. You are not alone- there are many of us who have gone through Ropinirole/ pramipexole withdrawal and we know what you are going through.
Stay strong
Hi Tweedy - Could you elaborate on the buproprion? Were you on it previously, or did Doctor Winkelman prescribe it? And how has it made you feel?
I second what Jools has told you. You might do better with having a opiate added in which will help with the withdrawals. Dr Winkleman is one of the good RLS experts, no doubt you are in good hands. 1/2 mg decrease sounds about right, but if you think its too much, then 1/4mg might be better for you, i would run that by Dr Winkleman. I have never gone through augmentation which i am thankful for. But i think when weaning off one, slow can be better than rushing it, altho some will say doing it quicker gets it done out the way. I think it depends on how you cope with the withdrawals. Good luck.
Yikes
Over a day I take 4 Ropinirole and I'm finding them very good.YEs,I still get rls but not so bad.
I’m in the same situation I dropped two mg on my ropinorole ER because there’s no three and at times I have to stand up for a while but I am also going to get off the ropinorole good luck
I weaned myself off Ropinerole by taking an OTC called Hyland’s Leg Cramps. It took a couple of weeks but since the Hyland’s is non habit forming it kept the pain down and I eventually got totally off the Ropinerole. That drug was hurting me and I didn’t know it. The more I took the worse my symptoms got. I am much better after getting off of it.
