I have noticed since I have changed my blood thinner from Warfarin to Xarelto my Restless Leg Syndrom has really increased. Anyone else have this problem?

Rls due to Xarelto
This is an excerpt from a post 2 yrs ago.
"What may have changed things is that 4 months ago I suddenly had deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in my leg with a blood clot travelling to my heart and damaging my lung en route ! So for 4 months I have been on meds every day for blood thinning (Xarelto / Rivaroxaban) and I continue with my usual blood pressure tablets which I have been on for a few years."
The poster was complaining of increased rls.
That may answer your query!?😎
Been taking Xarelto (Rivoroxaban) for a few years now and have had no increased symptoms whatsoever.
If you are taking a blood thinner you might consider changing to persantin (aka dipyridamole). A recent study (albeit small and the participants had not previously been treated for RLS) found that dipyridamole helped the majority of participants with their RLS symptoms. It is to do with adenosine levels - the science is complex and, frankly, somewhat beyond me. Dipyridamole is an older drug and - so my cardiologist tells me - not frequently used nowadays but if it were to have a dual benefit (ie blood thinner and helpful to RLS) it might be worth trying.
Hi ABlessing O no Ive never had that problem -I dont use any of that medication
Xarelto has been found to raise blood sugar, which I believe is often the cause of RLS. The answer is to lower your intake of sugar from other sources, and also refined starches (as found in processed food)
I have RLS. My blood is so thin I have big purple splotches on my arms. Can't even take Excedrin (my fav med of all time.) Is thee a correlation between thin blood and RLS you think?
Xarelto- nasty stuff. It caused fatal internal bleeding in an elderly lady I knew, and sadly, not one of her 3 doctors had a clue why she kept needing blood transfusions. Beware- there is no antidote if you start bleeding. Lawsuits abound. Older drugs are a whole lot safer. And if it triggers RLS, mercy, just run!
