Sleeping all night.

My doctor referred me to a doctor in Dallas for my severe RLS. I was taking Neupro 3 mg every morning and 3mg ropinirole at night. I would not sleep pass 3:00 A.M. I stopped the Neupro and added 600 mg of Horizant at 5:00 P.M. and I sleep all night. I still take the Ropinirole. The doctor said it could not be the generic of the Horizant for RLS. I have suffered with RLS for years and can’t remember what it was like not to suffer most of the night. Praying this will last. Because I don’t wear the patch, I still have problems during the day so I just stay busy. I would rather have a peaceful night and be rested.

I have recently started Horizant 300mg as well but I add 200 mg capsules of Gabapentin at noon, after dinner and right before bed. I sleep well most nights and (gloriously) I can sometimes take a nap after lunch.

The Horizant is very expensive and my insurance company didn’t want to cooperate. My wife found some coupons on the Horizant website that drastically reduced the price.

Good luck.

My insurance kept refusing to cover the Horizant also even after 2 failed attempts on the evil DA meds. I didn’t push the issue too much as it also has its fair share of side effects I’ve read. Such a frustrating disorder we have. No real help and people’s attitude about the whole thing is almost treated like a joke. Like we are all just nervous Nellies. I am so tired of this curse and the doctors seemingly apathetic attitude I could just scream some days. At least for some diseases, however bad they are ,there is often a “cure” or at least some awareness and attempt of helping but not so much so for RLS. Hoping something changes but not so sure I will see it in my remaining years

Mine is so bad even in my arms. I don't know the answer, but keep hoping for one.

Dont know if this will help but anything to help a RLS sufferer is worth a go. I've been on Ropinirole for a number of years and for me the best combination is one 1mg tablet in the morning, one 1mg tablet around 5pm followed by two 1mg tablets before bed. Doesn't always work 100% and found getting wound up or being on holiday and it is hot seems to trigger it. Have eased bad bouts in the past by sitting in a bath a cool warm. Wishing you the best of luck.

I used to take carbidopa levodopa (Sinemet ) during the day.

I don’t believe there is a generic of Horizant available yet in the US. Generically it is Gabapentin Encarbal but the generic version is not yet available. The patent doesn’t expire til 2022. That’s why it’s so expensive!
