Does anyone know of a Uk/European alternative to the Relaxis pad?

Hello All,

I’ve been suffering from RLS for years and recently gave up Fluoxetine after many years to try to stop it, which helped a lot.

But the last couple of years I’ve also had the same sensations in my arms and top of my back, which drives my crazy and stops me from sleeping every night.

I have a feeling a Relaxis type pad might help, and was just wondering if anyone had found anything similar that might help?

TENS might work, and there are good reports about Quell.

The advantage of the Quell device is that it is small and would be undetectable under trousers.

You would also have to buy it from the USA, I think, (?), but it is much less expensive that the Relaxis Pad.

I know that the Relaxis people give you a period in which to see if the device works for you, so perhaps get in touch with them and ask if this extends across the pond. If it does work the cost will be worth it.

The other strictly physical (as opposed to chemical) treatment would be some sort of compression device.

Your symptoms are spreading - are you on a dopamine agonist?

Good morning. Thanks very much - I will look into that. I’m not taking anything for it because from what I read, that just makes it worse in the end. So I’m trying to find alternative ways of dealing with it. Here’s hoping....!

I have the Relaxis pad, which I used for a few months, on and off, and I ended up not really being helped by it. I think it is just that I needed a very strong medicine, and my doctor was VERY reluctant to give me the help I needed. Now my Relaxis sits in my closet, as the medicine allows me to sit in the evening and sleep at night.

I have a relaxis pad which I ordered at considerable expense from the US to europe. I did not find that it was worth the money. It helped sometimes, particularly if I went for a rest during the day. But at other times it actually seemed to make things worse. I hardly ever use it now. I wonder if one of those vibro plates that people use for gym work might replicate the sensation somewhat. I have seen people post occasionally that they find those things helpful. They are expensive but can sometimes be picked up relatively cheaply second hand. Otherwise, as has already been advised, a tens machine or similar might replicate the counter-stimulation technique somewhat.
