🌸
No he doesnt do long distance practicing. You can find him at his website and you can email him with a question about your RLS and he will answer usually 24-48 hrs later, he is the best RLS specialist across the pond which is why we always send members to his website, some of his website is outdated mostly the high doses of the dopamine meds, otherwise there is some very helpful information. rlshelp.org
It's a small yellow email icon on the left hand side of the opening web page.
Thank you!
Just to verify, Dr B is Dr Buchfuhrer. I see he’s in California. Not far from my family.
Yes, sorry we always call him Dr. B. Its is Dr. Buchfuhrer.
No problem! Thank you 🌸
Hi everyone,
I'm in Calif and never heard of Dr B . I'll check him out. I found at John Hopkins Hospital Baltimore there's a RLS foundation headed by a neurologist that has done a year study on RLS and his webinars are very informative. For those that suffer severe symptoms I've found some info to pertain to me and the augmentation spot on.
That sounds like Dr Early , he has some very informative info on Augmentation and the role of iron for RLS on his video;s which can be found on youtube Wonder if thats who you are referring to, as Dr Early is at John Hopkins Hospital.
Yes, that's the doctor.
Hi Mona. The study at Johns Hopkins was it done by Dr Early? I hear he is excellent
Dr. Earley is a good doctor too, and he does things differently than some other RLS specialists. He has done a big study on iron and RLS , and a bigger study on using opiates to treat refractory RLS.
rlshelp.org This will show you where Dr. B is, all the thousands of emails he has answered on his own time. Really close to LAX.
Hi Elise. I’m putting my vote in as to good RLS doctors. I disagree as to you saying Dr B is the best. In my opinion Dr Poceta at Scripps is the best and I’ve been to both.
Ok that fine, if thats your opinion. Never heard of Dr. Poceta at Scripps i wonder of other members on here know of him. Up til now, no one has come on here who has had free advise from Dr. Buchfuhrer about their RLS or have seen him as a patient has found his advise or treatment not good. Maybe you can tell us more about the doctor you saw.
I do not know of any other doctor besides Dr. B who has answered emails advised people for free (since 1996). Dr. Poceta has worked with DR B on research papers etc. Everyone has different personalities, and if you like Dr. Poceta. then that is who you should go to. I know hundreds who have seen Dr. B since I had my first RLS support group in 1996 (first one on the internet, in yahoo groups) , and he has advised me ever since then, and hundreds of others. I have never met anyone who did not like him, but there is always a first. It is your choice who you see, and we like who we like. BOTH of them are good RLS doctors. That is all we can wish for.
To nightdancer. I too have had RLS for many years. Actually in 1963, during my first pregnancy, I first experienced RLS symptoms. Of course the doctor didn’t have a clue what I was talking about and this “creepy crawling sensation and urge to move my legs” didn’t seem all that critical to him. As years past, the symptoms got worse, and painful, and into my other extremities. I was up all night and even had episodes during the day - sound familiar? But now some 50 plus years later, we have all become a little more educated about RLS. Some of us have found relief, mostly through trial and error. As you know, not everything works for everyone. I have gone to many doctors for RLS over the past 50 years. Some good, some okay and some not so hot. In my opinion, Dr Poceta is the best one I have seen for this condition and I am currently his patient.
yes, maybe you can expand on that and tell us why? I do not know many people , if any, who have seen Dr. Poceta. He has contributed to research, as has Dr. B. and not everyone likes every doctor they meet. One person can love a doctor and the next one can't stand him or her. It is just the way it goes. Dr. B DOES have the best book on RLS. Clinical Management of Restless Legs Syndrome, 2nd edition. It is my "RLS bible".
Hi nightdancer could you tell me where I could get a copy of that book please, sounds like a very informative read,"rls bible". Many thanks in advance 🙂
Hi I got my copy from Amazon, I am in the UK
yes, Amazon, and get the 2nd edition one, it has the latest doses for meds, etc. Also, he has 3 other doctors and a pediatric nurse who contributed to the book. I cannot live without it. it is more "doctor speak" than "patient speak", but it is easy enough to figure it out. He really wrote this for other doctors who do not know how to treat RLS. So, it is very detailed.
Has following his advice/meds/doses he suggests in the book helped you/anyone get relief from RLS?
like elisse2 has said he is the best around he knows everything about RLS if you have a question about RLS he will get back to you if you send him a text. He will defiantly reply to your text, please see his address to write to on his web site, which elisse2 as put.
Doctor Mark Buchfuhrer of Stanford University.
I would think it well worth crossing the continent to consult him.

Thank you! Yes. He’s actually less than half of California away from from where I grew up and my family still lives. Ha!
I WAS going to see him a few yrs back when I went west to visit friends in Sacramento, was going to stop and see him first, then fly up to SAC. BUT, then my friend had a death in the family, and I had to go straight there. Dr. B had cleared 2 hrs for me, was so sad I did not ever get there just to meet him.
