Dr B is amazing!

I've been on Ropinirole for 20 years and this past year started augmenting severely. I was able to fly to Los Angeles and see Dr. Buchfuhrer a couple of weeks ago. His knowledge of how to treat augmentation is phenomenal. He is very reassuring and has a great bedside manner. I am now on day 6 of going off of Ropinirole cold turkey. He has managed my symptoms by using low doses of Methedone. I haven't slept this good in a couple of decades and have had almost no signs of RLS during the night. I feel like a different person and I finally have hope for my future. I know he is doing tele appointments now, so if there is anyway you can get on his schedule, do so! It is disheartening to read so many of your experiences with doctors that don't know how to deal with this heinous condition. It's so unnecessary when there are doctors who know how to treat this so effectively.

I agree with you fully.A small problem for non USA people, might be that other jurisdictions will not fulfill his prescription.

We can only hope that our own doctors would feel able to follow his advice.

And then we are left with a strong prejudice against methadone in many cases.

I'm delighted that you have had such a good outcome.

All the best.

Is this just for US patients? I was told he doesn't do phone/Skype consultations. I'm in Australia.

I know he requires an in person meeting for the first appointment. I’m not sure if he sees patients from outside the US.

He did not require an in person for me on the first appointment. I subsequently went to his office for a second appointment so that he could prescribe medications to me directly and thus avoid having to use my GP for meds.

I am in Australia and desperately need help. I would love an appointment with Dr. Buchfuhrer. I guess I can only ring him and try for a Telehealth appointment.

Do everything you can to get an appt with him. Fly to the US if necessary. Give his books to your GP so they can better understand the research and treatments that work.
