Have been on ropinirole hcl 2mg for at least 5 years. Not working anymore.....I've been dealing with the increased frequency of "bad nights" but after a recent total hip replacement I'm done! Got back to my room about 11 am and around 4 pm the "feelings" began and unfortunately it was in the left leg(as is the norm these days....used to be the right) and it was the left hip that was done!! Awful...I'm supposed to have the right hip done soon but have to get rls under control before .....do not want to go through that again. See if the sinemet I'm starting tonight works. My first entry.....so glad to be able to communicate w/ those who can relate.

Ropinerole is known to just stop working, and when that happens the inclination of people and doctors is to raise the dose, and that is the wrong thing to do. Looks the dopamine med is not helping any more, and that is common for them to do that. Sinemet is also dopamine, and is short acting. It may help some at first, but now you are taking 2 dopamine meds, and the first one is failing you. Most likely time to talk to your doctor and go over other meds that can be used for RLS. The RLS-UK RLS Foundation web site has all that info for you.
