Has anybody got relief from leg jerks after having acupunture?I have my rls controled at night but i suffer leg jerks at daytime and it is hard.I tried tramadol also at daytime but it didnt help.(I also take tramadol at night) But what is strange about it is that the jerks are not accompanied with the rls sensations.(stabbing, pins and needles neither the urge to move). I feel that my legs jerk or see my fingers move (as if hitted by electrodes when its really bad).Any advice?

acupunture
The leg jerks are really unnerving. Sometimes i get clusters of them. But, thankfully, only at night or morning. I use acupuncture for lots of things. Tried it for rls but couldn't keep still enough
Neuropathy.
When you say neuropathy you mean that my symptoms look like neuropathy?
Yes-- I don't think what you're left with after dealing with the rls, is actually rls ( as you say yourself)
So the jerking so possibly some neuropathic response/ leg movement disorder. PLMD.
Just a possibility.
Yeah. They think I have plmd....to me the jerking and pain with sleepless nights unless i take my rx ...it's all the same to me.
Must have sleep. Oy
I appreciate ,that for you they seem the same. However there is an important difference.
RLS actually prevents sleep.
PLMD usually occurs during sleep- often, the only clue that someone knows they have it is because bedclothes are on the floor in the morning, or partner is.😆
I don't know what the treatment is for PLMD.
Cheers.
Hi Madlegs!
It seems as if I am a strange bird. I can't sleep, but I have these myclonic jerks in arms legs....etc...all night. Painful too they are. Everything is all jumpy with spasms and it keeps me awake. The Drs dont have a dx. The clonopin works. You all have been amazing in helping me try to undertsand all this. My onc says it must be related to the CLL. Pfft. Who knows. Is there a combo rls plmd? 🤓
I don't think so, they are different modes of activity.
Well then I'm just an odd bird...nothing new there
😂😂😂😂
Seriously-look at what you're putting into your body.
We are all affected by what goes in- even from our environment, such as chemicals and toxins.
I'm talking simple household cleaner stuff etc. Washing powders etc.
Cheers.
Hi Katerina22.
I've been seeing a Chinese acupuncturist twice a week for about five months to try to correct my RLS. She diagnosed that my liver and kidney meridians were way out of balance (overactive and stimulated) due in part to a number of supplements I had been taking for years. She kindly warned me at the beginning of our relationship that RLS is a challenging condition to treat, and she been very careful to be realistic with me about progress and the future. That said, I believe that my RLS is slowly subsiding. As you probably know, Chinese medicine views the body and health (and disease) very differently than Western medicine. They're way more focused on the whole body as a complex interacting system (not unlike the emerging practice of Functional Medicine), as opposed to Western medicine's more Newtonian mechanistic approach (for example, if the legs itch, the problem must be in the legs). As the old saying goes, "your mileage may vary," in the sense that you might get immediate relief from acupuncture or it might be a much longer process, since the underlying cause of your RLS could be very different from mine.
I'm undertaking this approach along with seeing a naturopath who uses Electrodermal Biofeedback as a diagnostic tool, with appropriate supplements based on that analysis. I control my day-to-day symptoms with kratom. My hope is to eventually heal the underlying cause of the RLS through one or both of the above methods, so I won't need the kratom.
Thus, you might want to try acupuncture. I would recommend a Chinese-educated doctor if you have one available; that is, one who understands Chinese medicine and not just acupuncture. Even if they aren't able to provide immediate relief, the information you get from their diagnosis may be helpful to you.
I hope this information is helpful. All the best to you in your healing journey.
Doug
I spent a lot of money on acupuncture for my legs a few years ago and got no relief but it may depend on the acupuncturist and also the patient.
