NOW DOPA Mucuna???
Sorry lbrosa. I had never even heard of this until your note. It looks interesting, but be sure to check for interactions.. Let us know if you try it, and how it does...
Thanks CaerylUSA...I will keep looking and researching as I had never heard of either but it is supposed to be a "natural" domaine product! We will see and I will surely let everyone know what I find! Linda
It's a supplement utilizing an extract of "velvet bean" and It has long been used in traditional Ayurvedic Indian medicine in an attempt to treat diseases including Parkinson's disease. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mucun...
There are several posts about Mucuna pruriens powder. It is supposed to help RLS. You can buy it online from most health food suppliers.
I bought it and tried it for several weeks but it did absolutely nothing for me.
I too found it ineffective as a supplement. Someone posted on here that if you can gain access to the original tree it provides enormous benefits but they were in a tropical location. I would be inclined to try magnesium which has many enthusiastic supporters (although it seems to slightly exacerbate my legs) or of course gentle iron which is of assistance in the majority of cases.
I have used it, it was a bit difficult to find here in the US, but ordered it online. It is similar chemically to carbidopa/levodopa or sinnemet. The half life is short, and I found the rebound syndrome to be similar to short acting sinnemet, and rather miserable with "whole body" RLS symptoms. I have been on sinnemet for years, both short and long acting, and I don't enjoy it (soon to be on rotigone). I would not recommend this product (nor would I recommend sinnemet).
