I am 66 years old and have Fibromyalgia,Restless Leg. and RA. I take a lot of medications, but a year this April I saw a new Doctor, a Neurologist that has changed my life regarding my RLS. I HAVE HAD THIS AWFUL DISEASE FOR 40 YEARS. AND I AM NOW FOR ALMOST A YEAR 95% rls free. As I said before I take a lot of medication for lots of things besides RLS. however, the addition of iron, b-12, vit D, AND a drug called RYTARY, has been the return of my sanity. I can't tell you it will work for you but I can send you a list of my meds and my DR'S name etc. Good Luck. This is a terrible thing to have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lindy

That’s wonderful. It is fantastic to get relief.

Rytary is a dopamine agonist so make sure to keep your iron levels high (ideally your serum ferritin should be over 100) and be vigilant about not increasing the dose - if you get breakthrough symptoms use a different drug to deal with them.

That way you may avoid the dreaded augmentation - latest studies suggest managed in this way over time only 60% of patients augmented rather than almost 100% who merely increased the d/a, without reference to serum ferritin levels, as their symptoms worsened.

Wonderful new info re connection between ferritin levels and DA's and augmentation. I didn't know this. Thank you irina

Yes; I wish I had known all this stuff earlier. Iron seems to be very important for a majority of sufferers but, as is typical with RLS, there are a few for whom it does nothing.

I'd like to +1 on what in

voluntarydamcer said and add that you need to be very aware of hte side-effects. Please read the leaflet that comes with it very well adn show it to someone who knows you and you trust - they might see the side-effects before you do!!!!

All drugs carry good and bad things no matter how benign they seem, (I have great results with cannabis and no negative effects yet I know it can be bad for some).

I am delighted things are working for you - read up on gentle Iron that a number of people on here take to good effect. Also review other treatments such as Tramadol, Targinact, codeine, Neupro, etc as you may need to change drugs sometime down the line.

I hope you enjoy the new found peace in your body and hope it lasts.
