Adding to my own post here. Are sprays or capsules best or indeed vaping
I bought the Holland and barrett CBD plus, although it is not as high a % as if you buy it from the CBD distributors. I had ordered another one from CBDoilsuk.com, it was a spray which I got because it was discounted. CBD brothers are very highly recommended, and I had ear-marked the white, indica strain.
Hope that helps
Hi I've been using hemp oil for a couple of months the now and I have been sleeping much better and my legs are less jumpy and uncomfortable at night. I use Medi Hemp 5 Complete just 2 drops under the tongue for 30 seconds then spit out just before I go to bed.
I got it on the internet. Not cheap and there seem to be loads to choose from. I don't take any other medication for else. Good luck with it.
I read yesterday that it made the symptoms worse in someone on this chat forum. So, although I had bought some from H & B, I will pass... not ready to take a risk.
Not everyone reacts the same, I had instant relief from daytime RLS after my first dose. It may be that the outcome is affected by other drugs which the sufferer is taking. My only medication is Pramipexole 0.088mg which is now half the dose I was on before I took CBD oil.
Hi Tapir. Would really like to learn more about this. I am on premipexole myself and stopped all other meds. I am ok at night with RLS but if I am tired during the day and that’s most days!!! Then it kicks in big time. A quick power nap in the day is a long lost memory for me !!
Hi Steve,
I have suffered from RLS since my mid-twenties and it gradually became worse with age but now it has become life altering - for the worst. I can only pass on what I have learnt through experience. For me dairy products of any kind will trigger a severe attack in a very short time. I gave these up and had 2 years free of RLS, and then it came back. I have found magnesium supplements useful. I use a 1 x 100mg magnesium citrate tablet when I feel it coming on. Balancing sodium:potassium ratios is also helpful. Our diet tends to be too rich in sodium. I use re-hydration sachets obtainable from Boots which I dissolve in water (200ml) and which then contain the correct sodium:potassium ratio in a suitable ionic strength for absorption into the body. Not all of these treatments work all the time but I have often found them beneficial.
Now to my regrettable error. MY RLS was only at night which made sleep virtually impossible. I was persuaded by my doctor to take Ropinirole, a dopamine agonist. This was magic for about 2 months when I experienced augmentation which extended my RLS to daytime as well! Taking the drug in the evening actually caused RLS to start, this severe attach would last about 30 -60 minutes before subsiding, then I was able to sleep at night. I then tried Pramipexole with exactly similar results to Ropinirole. Relief at first but then augmentation occurs. I wish I had never heard of this class of drugs.
I have managed to free myself from daytime RLS and halved my Pramipexole dose at night with the aid of cannabis oil. I am learning as I go along. For instance, if I take Pramipexole in the evening RLS will start and CBD will not help. It is important to take the oil several hours before the dopamine agonist. It seems CBD will prevent an attack but cannot help once it starts.
I realise that this a bit of a tome but RLS is such a savage condition that anything I can do to help you by relating my experiences must be worth it.
In the interest of balance: I found CBC oil made no impact at all on my Rls. It does seem to help with general anxiety though. I find even ‘full blown’ cannabis does not help with the urge-to-move symptoms but is very helpful with inducing sleep (either my rls or the treatment drugs cause insomnia also).
Well if you are prepared to take anything then Kratom is very effective and has few side effects. Sadly, it is illegal in UK (though legal in many states in US). It can be imported from Holland (comes in plain packaging). I found out about it a US RLS forum. I don’t know what I’d do without it as I augment on dopamine agonists within weeks, pregabalin/gabapentin has no impact on my symptoms and can’t take opioids due to central sleep apnea.
Make sure your serum ferritin levels are high (they should be over 100 according to latest thinking). Raising iron levels helps in a majority of sufferers. Experts in the US often treat with iron infusion and are prepared to countenance levels in excess of 300.
