Serotonin

I have had severe RLS for over 20 years, and have gone through all the meds mentioned on the site. Currently on sinemet & valium, which have been the most effective. However, in the last 6 months the symptoms have worsened & I was having to take oxycontin 2-3 nights a week. I also take effexor for mild depression, also for about 20 years (hmmm). After reading that serotonin could impact RLS, I persuaded my psychiatrist to cut my dosage in half & the symptoms have improved dramatically! And the extra sleep has more than made up for the lower dosage for the depression.

Well done. You may find Vitamin D supplements help with mild depression. I have found that I'm sleeping better since I cut out cow's milk almost completely (only a2 or goats milk for me now), and cut down on gluten. Also avoiding sugary foods has almost eliminated my RLS.
