Cardiologist wants me to start taking this drug for cholesterol but I'm scared of it. I've heard that it can aggravate chronic fatigue, and I suspect if it does that it'll probably aggravate RLS as well. He put me on kind of a high dosage of it too (40mg).
Does anyone have any experience with this? TIA

Hi Lash65, I know nothing about high cholesterol but my mother was prescribed statins and experienced a lot of leg pain with it. Her doctor took her off the statins then.
Just a thought - there is a Cholesterol Support community here in HealthUnlocked. Could you take a look at their Q's and A's? Might give some info
Everyone is different but my Doctor changed my prescription from simvastatin to atorvastatin and it caused a breakthrough in my well managed rls. When I mentioned this he said to take half the dose but alas this still caused that creepy crawly sensation and so I returned to simvastatin until recently when I decided statins were not for me.
Hello Lash65. After reading about all the bad side effects of statin drugs, I started taking some natural supplements and they have lowered my bad cholesterol and triglycerides better than the simvastatin did, to my dr's suprise! I take 500mg Citrus Bergamot, one capsule daily and 200mg Ubiquinol (body ready CoQ10), one soft gel daily. Statin drugs interfere with your body absorbing the nutrients you need, especially CoQ10 and can cause many different health problems. I get both supplements thru Puritan's Pride. Both have 60 capsules and last 2 months. Hope this is of some help to you.
Thank you Yorgi1950. This is very helpful. I've been hearing a lot of good stuff about CoQ10. My brother's cholesterol is much worse than mine, so this might help him too.
Lash65. Make sure you get Ubiquinol, not regular CoQ10, there is a difference. Regular CoQ10 does not absorb as well as Ubiquinol, and many CoQ10's are not of good quality.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I need to try it once to find out. But if I react to it I won't take it again. I'm scratching my head at why the high dosage when my levels are barely elevated.
