I was but then got put on Atorvastatin (Lipitor) about a year ago because of aching leg muscles however although I think it is a little better it's too small to be sure. The problem is that because I have had a quad heart bypass some statins have to be taken so does anyone know of a study into muscle pain and taking statins?

LOts of studies in the US on leg pain and statins. My mother had triple bypass surgery, so I know what you are going through. She had hers this year at the age of 84! But, some meds (statins) were pulled from the market in the US BECAUSE of muscle damage. fda.gov is a good web site to read up on recalls, etc, in the US, but lots of information that is general also. Just google statins and muscle pain. You will get a lot of "hits".

hi, thank you for your help, romany53

My Rheumy told me that Statins do indeed bring on pain for some.

Statins are for cholesterol. They certainly would have nothing to do with RLS at all. Romany sent in good sites for you. Satatins are well known in the states to cause leg pain and muscle damage. I know, because my mother took statins for years and always complained fo her legs hurting so. Well, I started to do research, and statins are one of the #1 causes of leg pain in elderly people taking these meds. But, they have nothing to do with RLS, good or bad. :)

My Mom is on a low dose statin of a different kind now, since her heart attacks and surgery, since she HAS to, but she barely notices her med at all now, too. :)

I have got a fair amount of calf muscle relief by using a 'Circulation Booster' which although over £100 to buy is good value for what it does for me. I use it for 30 minutes

on a pulse strength setting of 20 about 30 minutes before I go to bed and for lower leg pain it does help.
