It drives me nuts!
Hi Abby14, it looks like we can't give much help with your iron problem at the moment. Some people here blame low iron levels for their RLS and you have to be given iron to keep your level up. You say you suffer a lot before your treatment but pregabalin helps between treatments. Have i got that right?
Yes, Gp has put me on another med for my legs, only been taking for a few days, so far so good Just have to wait & see! still on Pergabalin as well! Got to see GP in a few weeks to see how new meds are working! seeing my sleep DR at Guys in March next year, He is very good, I like him a lot My legs also move when I am asleep! Had to go & be wired up & watched when I was asleep! so I have 2 conditions! My iron is not low enough at the mo for infustion!
Hi Abby, yes, me too. I have RLS during the day and PLMD while I am asleep, which means my legs have been jumping and jerking almost 24/7. I also have been prescribed pregabalin so lets hope it will solve both our problems. It has started to make a difference to me already. Glad you have support at Guys, I think they are really good from what i have heard. Be tough! lol
Kind Regards
Neil
I hope it helps you It is such a horrid condition! You feel like you are going my mad! I told my GP I felt like smashing my legs with a hammer! He said I don"t want you to do that He is so sweet My low iron levels don"t help! I can"t torrate oral iron! so have to have infustions! for a few week after I have one my legs are so much better but once they start going down, they are hell again! It doesn"t help being female, They are very heavy as I have gyne problems! so it"s hard to keep iron up! I try to eat food rich in iron, but have problems asboring it! it is good to talk to someone who understands! trying to expain to someone who doen"t have the condition what is like!
Abby, I know exactly what you mean, people don't realise do they?
As your doctor is guiding you with the iron intake I imagine he/she has taken into account that the absorption of iron needs help, Vitamine C for instance to give you full benefit. As you cannot take iron orally do you have to drink orange juice or something to give you the vitamins before your iron treatment? Just a thought
Neil
Hi Abby,
You and Neil seem to be doing great, so I'm just peeping in. I have been keeping up with your post.
Neil is right about the vit c needed to aid in the absorption of iron. I'm sure you've already brought up your iron absorption and female issues with your GP? If you want to talk to someone about the latter, my inbox is open🙂
Take care,
LOL. I would never smash my legs with a hammer. but that is how it gets me sometimes!
No, I meant ouch about your most recent reply.
Ha ha ha LOL sorry I can be dozy sometimes.
