Oh dear

Here I am walking around, having done the ironing and set the breakfast table and my rls is worse than its ever been. I tried going to bed two hours ago after taking an extra .25 of Ropinerole in the hope of calming my legs.

On Friday I am being driven on holiday ( a six or seven

hour journey) and don't know how to cope if I'm like this. The plan is to stop after the first couple of hours so I can walk a bit. The mornings are generally OK so that should be fine. It's the rest of the journey which is worrying me. Any ideas?

Hi Loistonya- you've been on the Ropinerol for nearly 7 yrs- so maybe it's time to consider changing?

For the trip, I can only suggest something like Valium if you're able to get some at short notice?

Gabapentin would be another option- but again it takes a while to act.

Opiates are the real answer - but same problem.

Some people seem to be getting on well with CBD oil - we can get it here in Ireland in any Health Food shop- although one has to ask for it- they can't advertise it.

Sleeping pills are another last resort - could be a memorable trip!!!!😆😴😴😴

Good luck.

Thank you, Madlegs 1,

It's a comfort to know someone's listening at this time of night.

I did try Cannabis ( illegally) some months ago but it seemed to have the same side effects as Ropinorole so it seemed sensible to stay with the prescription drug. I'll try the Gp in the morning to see if I can get something to get me over the journey.

I've just taken yet another 2.5 mg of Ropinerole in the vain hope it will knock me out - it's more than I've ever taken before! In the last couple of weeks I have reduced my dose successfully but now have shot up higher than before!

Yep- you're on that slippery slope.

If you can get to a Dr in the morning - then look for Valium and some sleeping pills- Ambien is a good one.

I'm up late entertaing two 15 month old grandchildren. A pair of little scamps! Time to turn in now!

All the best- and enjoy your trip.

Thought the only reason you'd be up at this hour would be rls. But little grandchildren are a different kettle of fish! Are they twins?

My rls continues but I hope you're sleeping well now. I did get an hour's sleep but the devil is back with a vengeance now!

I have just discovered that massaging my foot, toes and calves with CBD balm gives considerable relief. While I am in hospital and feel unable to take the other products, this is serving as a stop-gap. Might be better than nothing? Best of luck. X

Thank you for your concern. Is CBD balm cannabis. That is illegal in the Britain. Are you somewhere where it is accepted?

This product is perfectly legal, suppled by CBD Brothers in Suffolk, I know many health professionals look askance and are disapproving, but you will find many people on here to explain this is more a good supplement than a drug. Even Holland and Barrett sell the oil! So don't be scared of the word cannabis, this product uses medicinal parts of the plant and extracts all the bits which are illicit. X

Have you ever tried support/compression stockings? I use them to help calm my leg movements. They work like a charm! Have a great trip!

Thank you Jess. I will try them. Any particular type or length?

I use Jobst knee-highs. I'm in Norway, though. I'm not sure if they have that in the UK (if that's where you are). Futuro is another brand I use, but I don't find that they work as well.
