Usually- Non drowsy ones are ok.

I take ceterizine without problems But you will get withdrawals when you wish to stop taking it 😱

Hiya, can I ask what withdrawals do you get? I’ve not experienced or heard of that, really interested. Ta 😊

I was taking cetrine 10mg.

When I started ,I checked if there were any problems taking it long-term. Answer was - no.

I decide to stop taking it after a summer, but got such bad withdrawals- it was like my opioids were not working. I asked here and none had any ideas.

Finally I figured it was the ceterizine, and started up again.

All good again.

So now I'm on it for life unless I want to seriously get off it. Which at age 78, I'll not bother, thank you!!!😎😝

Cetirizine or loratedine tablets and nose sprays with xylometazoline are RLS safe. But the nose sprays can cause 'rebound' congestion if you use for more than 4 days. So I use vaseline around nose to stop pollen entering & if congestion is bad - I use a nasal spray with a small amount of steroid. Apparently that doesn't cause rebound congestion.amazon.co.uk/Sudafed-15ml-B...

OTC Claritin (loratadine, Clarityn ), zyrtec (Cetirizine ), or allegra (Fexofenadine ) and prescription Clarinex (Desloratadine) Flonase (Pirinase) which is a nose spray does not cause rebound congestion.

You need to wean off the antihistamines to avoid withdrawal effects.

Thanks so I never even thought of withdrawal when using antihistamine.

Hi fellow Scot!

We take Asda’s own brand Zirtec. Haven’t had any withdrawal issues with it. (Tablets only)

My son used Allevia AKA Fexofenadine as its stronger (was cheapest from Amazon) last year as his hay fever bad and he didn’t have withdrawals either.

We’re all different though.

I've used Beconase (beclometasone dipropionate) nasal spray during the hay-fever season for many years, means I rarely get any symptoms and don't need antihistamines. It's a steroid spray and takes a few days of using before it starts to work so don't expect instant results. Once it kicks in, life returns to normal. If only RLS was so easily treated! If I forget to use it for a day or two, I get a very unpleasant reminder how bad hay-fever can be! For itchy eyes, try hypromellose drops, which can be used whenever needed. Both are over-the-counter remedies.
