Hi Hamish - I believe it should be above 70. But don't get hung up on ferritin level.
If your level is low- below 50- then iron supplementation - fer bisglycinate or sulphate- under medical supervision is a possible course of action.
However , my ferritin is over 1300😱😨 and I still get rls.
So -good luck.
Gosh Madlegs1, 1300 is massive, wow ! I think mine was 80 but my Kinesiologist says I'm deficient. I'm on Viridian organic liquid iron, one teaspoon in a touch of water twice a day. Also with Viridian Magnesium and B6 150mg one morning, two evening. Viridian. Viridian Daily probiotic one a day. Viridian Turmeric 400g twice a day and A. Vogel Solidago 15 drops in a little water fir detoxing the Kidneys. All in all it's improving but I try not to say it out loud in case I jinx it !
Hamish get your ferritin level tested by your doctor first to find out what your number is. Seems the RLS experts are now recommending for it to be over 100. Taking iron pills with your doctor's guidance MIGHT help with your symptoms, but it doesnt help everyone. Also getting ferritin level up to a decent level is not easy with taking iron, taking iron with vit.c helps to absorb it better.
My specialist and my primary care provider both say over 100.
