No one has a decent idea why it happens let alone a cure. Best we can hope for at the minute is for the pains and sensations to be controlled, (although its hard for many to achieve that.

PS Not to be too negative that there is no Cure please see video below:

Yes, raffs is right, no cure for the UK or any other country. We need more research done and its not happening as its down to funding, and funding doesnt come our way for RLS. I dont think ANY research has been done in the UK, i could be wrong. Most research comes from the USA and a few other countries. No new meds are on the horizon either, which we also badly need.

I know what you mean. I get so tired of my own company and am so glad to see the sun come up in the morning. It's a very lonely thing to have. Hang in there. Also, started taking Curcumin. It is a supplement. Curcumin is an ingredient in turmeric and I've heard it is good for inflammation. Well, I've got arthritis and bursitis and started taking it. I've been doing it for about ten to twelve days. After the first couple of days, I noticed I started sleeping really well. Arthritis still hurts. Don't know, but I think it may be helping. But I've suffered so long with this. I don't know when it's going to come back. I think it will. It always does. But I am ever so grateful for the break. Thought this might help you.

Hi Geri! I hope I can help. I purchased my product from a natural food and supplement store in a little town in which I live. They've been in business for about 30 years so they are trustworthy. The name on the bottle is Curamin. There are 60 tablets in the bottle. It says to take 3 tablets a day. Most days I take two. Some days three. They are big, but can be swallowed easily. There is no milligrams listed on the front of the bottle, but on the back it lists 2,706 mg. I read on further and it contains organic boswellia. I've heard of this, but am going to look up on it. When I read 2,706 mg. I had to keep in mind that this an herbal supplement and not a drug. There is a website to visit. It is Curamin.com so that you can read what others have experienced with it. I do have some times when I have a bad time of it, but it's only been for a couple of hours. Everything I've heard of this supplement has been positive and what I have experienced has been positive. Good luck.

I think there is a small scale study in Kings College London but that's it. We are not worth the effort - seriously! There is no big money or grants to be got so self serving medics will not spend their time on RLS, (like a host of other conditions).

I am no longer working as ME put the final nail in my coffin but I had been struggling with RLS and it was only a matter of time before I had to quit due to it really 18+ hrs a day of agony and minutes of sleep a night got here and there and my body and mind were permanently on the edge of collapse!

Have you tried Kratom nick? It pulled me out of a very dark hole a while back - bit harder to get now due to stupid greedy f**ks of politicians but still can be got. Do a quick search in the search bar on HU or Google and there will be loads of info - you can also pm for any advice.

Stay strong you are not alone.

I don't want to sound like a broken record (which is a meaningless phrase to anyone under 30) BUT please read on this and other forums about the Monash University FODMAP diet. It's designed for IBS but it works for some RLS victims. Its cheap There is no profit in it for Pharma industry. If you decide to give it a go get help from a dietician who claims to know about FODMAPs or ask your doctor for a reference to such a dietician.

Warning the diet is not healthy unless you are careful. An apple a day keeps you awake for ever! Lots of "healthy " foods are banned BUT There are many allowed foods that are filling and tasty. Don't give up and be persistant.

I was also trying to hold down a job on an hours troubled sleep per night and nearly killing myself by driving while unable to keep my eyes open. Its almost impossible. I now sleep right through most nights with the help of a bit of music to sing me off to sleep. Instead of kicking the wall and furniture and hurting myself I sometimes kick the blankets off. Pretty good I reckon.

Try it but remember you have ZERO tolerance to the forbidden foods. Just one slice of bread or just one cup of coffee with caffiene and lactose is very likely to ruin your night so obey the rules no matter what or how hungry you are Eat a banana or an orange or a rice cake. (Blech!) Try it for 12 weeks and if it works you will enjoy your first night sleep for how many years?

I wish you luck and hope it works for you.

To be brutally honest, and I research all the time, not even anything close to a cure, they still have many strong theories. But as far as research goes, the 2 biggest studies are on long term treatments. I know little research is on, because again, to be brutally honest, there is no money in it for the big drug companies. It all has to do with $$ Very few consider RLS "not life threatening" which also drives down research dollars. There are a few small private studies going on, but unless someone sitting in a dark room researching it, and gets an epiphany, we are not even close. I have always felt it has to do with the spinal fluid and cerebral spinal fluid. That has been suggested several times over the years, and it makes some sense, but how is another question.
