I would make meals in the middle of the night partly out of boredom and partly out of self-pity.

Hope you get a bit of rest.

Take care.

I know the feeling, I am up around the house even taking walks out side and it feels at times as if you are the only sinner in the world!!

When I was able to I would have passed the time either playing computer games or watching movies. How'd you get the night in normally?

Yes I also snack when I am up during the night x

Am i the only one who doesnt snack when up in the night...? I do drink tea and have a ciggie, but snacking doesnt enter my head. I try to only be up for no longer than 20mins then go back to bed and see if legs will stop moving. I USED to go on my laptop in the night, but i stopped myself doing that, especially in the winter, to damn cold to sit downstairs. lol I do get up maybe 3-4 times in the night even more on a really bad night. A good night would be 3 times of getting up. :)

I have nights like that ,but sometimes you think they've stopped and go back to bed only to find yourself up again, I'd rather on a real bad night wait it out ( eating ) walking or anything to take your mind off it ,I roll around on floor on the bad bits push down hard and get relief that way

I understand it seems like it helps to snack I would try to relieve my symptoms but after I would snack it would start again.

I hit the biscuit box occasionally too - - -!

However, I should stay off sweet biscuits and sugary things. Try cheese flavoured crackers, or maybe nuts or a banana? I find camomile tea is a good distraction too.

Having a banana doesn't sound very exciting I'm afraid, I'm not really a T drinker but I might get some camomile and try it ,have heard it's supposed to be relaxing ,but I do munch on crackers as well as chocolate ,will have to stop buying chocolate and sweet biscuits will let you know what I think of the T

Hi Nick to late, have put on a couple of kg and also keep codeine phosphate tablets handy only take if I really need need one ,you can only ask ,I think sometimes it depends on what other medication you are on ,the doctors don't like giving them out ,good luck

Nick the Codeine helps because it is an opiate and opiates bind to the opiate receptors which in turn boosts the Dopamine receptors.Stopping an opiate particularly if done abruptly can cause severe RLS ,this is where the term "kicking the habit" comes from.! Many people take opiates as there long term RLS treatment. Codeine is the weakest of all the opiates and the "next one up " is Tramadol ,good wishes ...Pipps

Mopsy 1950,

You have spoken aloud about a problem we all (sufferers) have. If it isn't alcohol or opiates it is fat. I never took a survey, but I will bet that as a group we are heavier than the average person and the longer you suffer the heavier you get-----I wish you well in trying to stay out of the kitchen when you are twitching and have ache bones.

Despite the promises I make to myself in the daytime, to stay out of the fridge and pantry, 2, 3, 4 am is a dangerous time of night, fraught with boredom and impulsiveness- and maybe some self-pity, as someone else had mentioned. Since last summer when my RLS really stepped itself up, I have gained almost 20 pounds (9kg?). It's very disheartening. Poor sleep results in less energy the following day when I KNOW I should be out for a brisk walk, but can't bring myself to. And I know there are more urgent world problems, but I want to cry when my larger-sized jeans, (bought out of desperation) are too tight to squeeze into.

You poor thing ,it's at night we need to be able to get out and keep mind and body busy it's a shame the dark brings bad things ,otherwise,,,, if we could keep busy things could be different for those of us stuck in,, to pace to and fro what we can hopefully look forward to ,is ONE DAY A CURE
