That is pretty common. Sorry, but the weight is not going to start coming off by itself. I gained 50 lbs on Gabapentin in 6 months years ago. And, it took that long to work it off. So, watch what you eat and you will have to exercise more than usual to start getting that 30 lbs off. Good luck! I know the feeling!

Did you notice a difference in your metabolism after stopping the medicine? I wasn't eating more so I am just wondering if my metabolism will go back to normal soon?

I have always eaten healthy and I didn't even notice the weight gain until I got to 145, and then it kept going up. I am 5 5' so I want overweight then but now at 160 none of my clothes fit. I suffered from eating disorders in the past and am so depressed that this has happened to me. I was finally at at a healthy weight at 135 and 160 is considered overweight and no matter how hard I try the weight won't come off ( culped with my night eating disorder)

I'm just scared that my metabolism will never be the same.

as we get older our metabolism naturally slows down, too. Everyone is different when it comes to metabolism, so we just cannot say one way or the other. Sorry. Are you saying that you still are night eating? not really sure what you are saying about that. If you are, you will not lose the weight unless you can stop the night eating, if you are saying that you still do. Night eating is the worst. I was for a while, but that was med induced when I was taking Ambien. Watch the sugar and the carbs

Getting weight off is always hard to do. Cook low fat meals, cut out snacks. All foods that have a high fat content and sugar content, you need to cut back on. Good luck.

Hi Blonde. I was put on Gabapentin ( Nurontin) and gained 25 lbs in 2 months , I have also like you been a thin person and started feeling very uncomfortable not knowing why I was gaining so quickly. After some research I found out it was the Gabapenting and I took myself off as fast as I could and as soon as I started lowering the dose the weight started coming down. The first 5-7 lbs came off rather quickly and the rest took a little bit more but not more than 4 months. I'm happy to say I'm back to my normal weight and so many people noticed that I had lost weight. i wasn't on the drug very long so maybe that's why my weight went down so fast. Have you lost any? Try shocking your system with a bit stricter diet and see if that works. I'm sure it will come down because I learned it's just water weight. Good luck.

I can't tell you when it will come off but can tell you I had same experience. My primary care doctor switched me to Requip and the weight came off...THEN my insurance switched me to generic repinerole and I starting gaining weight again--craving carbohydrates. I was frustrated because no one would acknowledge this could be a side effect. Going to a neurologist within the next few weeks. My hope is to get off all meds. I really don't like the way they mess with your mind and the fact that if you miss your dosage for any reason (surgery, nausea, etc.) the RLS goes from thrashing about in bed to spasms that require walking. My head desperately wants to lie down to sleep and my legs want to walk--a battle always won by my legs.

Good luck to you in finding what works best.
