Hi,if it is not helping anymore and causing you bad side effects then yes I would see your doctor with a view to weaning off.Be prepared for your RLS to be severe as you reduce the dose.Depending on how long you have been on it and how high a dose you are on you may need a strong painkiller to help you. What daily dose are you taking? X
I was on Mirapex for about 15 years and found over the years the rls symptoms got much worse to the point that this past year I was in agony. I couldn't sit down during the day nor rest. I went cold turkey in November and it was hell but am now just taking Percocet, very small dose in the evening to get to sleep. I also gained weight and became so depressed. From reading on this site I found that Mirapex causes augmentation. I am so glad I got off the Mirapex. Since I have lost 16 pounds and am going to a gym. I am also cutting back on what I eat. It will get better if you get off the Mirapex
Retren response to Skiogs I put 27 pounds on Ina 3month period with mirapex and the oedematous and unhealthy impulses were also a manifestation I have refused to take it anymore and am still struggling to get the weight off.
I am anxious to hear what your doctor has suggested you do. I have been taking Mirapex since 2006. I have gained almost 100 lbs and have tried to lose the weight but have not been successful. I have also started gambling which I just read is a side effect of this medication. I never had any interest in gambling in the past but several years ago I started gambling. I really truly had no use for any kind of gambling. In fact, I divorced my husband of 38 years because he had a bad habit of gambling and spending money on junk. I am anxious to hear what your doctor has told you to do.
