I will have to show tomorrow that I am fit to work.

My employer referred me to see an occupational therapist after I was given two weeks off. I am very scared to see the OT and how to handle this but I do think I am fit to work so I have that conviction that I will have to pass on to that person tomorrow.

OH is what it says - to make sure that Staff are fit for work and to offer assistance if not. Being honest about how you are feeling is important and you may find that there is help available in your job!

Hi Mispiernas! Let us know how you got on. I had this problem about a year ago and people on this site were most helpful. I was on the Patch then and the side effects were me continually falling asleep at work. My boss referred me to Occy Health (as we affectionately call them) who were far more supportive than my boss. Essentially, RLS is deemed to be a disability in these situations so you are covered by discrimination legislation, i.e. it is against the law to discriminate against you in the workplace because you have RLS and/or associated symptoms. It gets better: an employer should undertake an assessment to ensure you are helped/your condition is alleviated, i.e. if tired, have regular "wake up" breaks, electric fans blowing at you (!), whatever does it for you! In the US they even have a device that alarms if your head flops!! Best of luck, Tpebop, Kent, Britain.

Firstly let me thank you greatly for your helpful comments. It means soooooo much to know I can tell someone who understand how it really is without fear of judgement. It was a terrible day first I keep being told I do a work the wrong thing but thankfully there are those who keep telling me I do a fantastic job. Believe me I do try hard to fulfil and make the best job I can. The Occy Health said it was requested I gave them a fully and complete medical history. Bur I query their motives and it seems they just want to reduce my hours and say I am incapable. Let me tell you I looked after my sick daughter for 22 years and she died 2 and half years. Her last year she was very ill in hospital and had a terrible death. Now she is gone and we are learning to live without her. Now recently I have RLS and other things that make me chonicaly tired, with chonic paain, and cannot sleep. But I function, go to work and get great satisfaction when I keep being told by others around me that I do a good. A lot has happened and now I do not want to loose my job. I love your comments and very much appreciate and welcome them with interest and give me pleasure to read. Thank you. Mispiernas

My heart bleeds when I read all the miseries that we go through and yet no help. As a matter of fact some of our doctors don't seem to be that interested - all they do is try you on another med.and another one and another one.. I have a very good doctor whom I've been seeing for over 25 years. RLS did not start until about 8 years ago.

You know how doctors ask you how you are when they join you in the exam room - well now I ask him how much time he has. I've been known to cry in his office and that makes him unconfortable - well TOO BAD..

I have a suggestion for all of us - let's try to find a doctor who is afflicted with this and invite him to join us here. Let's see what he/she has to offer.

Mispiernas ! Love, Love the picture.

By now, I hope that you can update us.

You're story about your family touched me. What a

trooper to go through that and to live to tell about it. =)

God bless you, your family. =)))

It's Friday and there is a sunny weekend to look forward to, specially now that I was diagnosed with Vitamin D deficiency. Simple to take a supplement and sunshine. I wonder if the sun lamps in the market are any good? Anyone knows?

I have my job at lest for one more year though I am being watched all the time and judged.

Moved another library this week and surrounded by books makes me happy. There are lots of people that think I am doing a very good job. I am starting to do tapestry, along with jewellery, sewing, gardening.

This week my RLS have beed a negligible problem. Sleeping well! Though I do feel sometimes I cannot keep awake. So I get up and do something to wake me up. But I better have this problem. Pregavalin, patches, tramadol, co-codamol, paracetamol, setreline are the medication at the moment. Can see that the 15 hour flights and long journeys are not going to be much of a problem.

Recently I have realised how many nice people I have met and how helpful they have been and no many unkind and even nasty people I have enjoyed their friendship and company. So it's being grateful to all those good ones and not let all those stressful things ruin all my my thoughts.

I look out of my window now and see light of lime green colour, nurtured 25 year old catalpa tree with the fig tree and count my blessings, listening to Radio 3
