Hi Ames82 - Welcome and congratulations for quitting! What you are experiencing is very normal. However, how I cope when I feel depressed and angry is I think to myself "try to think I am not losing anything and in fact I have everything to gain"! I think you feel that you have actually had to give something away that you actually enjoyed so try to think that cigarettes were in fact your enemy, robbing you of money, health, and your looks? I stopped at the beginning of February and this is how I fight those depressed/angry moods and it works for me! Good luck and keep up the good work!

Hi Ames82,

well done on reaching your 3rd month as a nonsmoker, that's fantastic! As Jane58 says, you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. What is your main reason for stopping smoking? do you feel like this all the time or does it fluctuate? Try to remain positive and remember, if you carry on smoking you may still have these feelings from time to time anyway. Have you tried any kinds of breathing exercises at these times? They really do help. I shall pop some more up that you may find useful. You've done really well to come this far. Stay strong...

I stopped in Feebruary and was so depressed I went to the Doctor and he has put me on a short course of anti depressants....He told me it is perfectly normal to feel this way as our body is missing the nicotine......I hope you feel better soon, and well done!

hello linda,i smoked for 25 yrs and ive tried every thing from zyban tablets to crappy patches and i know what you mean about been depressed and certain tablets etc on the market can cause this.I hae tried to give up many many times and always failed the longest i did was 2 weeks, then i came accross tabex of which is a natrual remedy cure from Bulgaria with no side effects and i havnt had a cig in over 6 mths now ,these tablets are at some point going to be availble on the NHS but red tape is taking time but should be here in 2 years,i got these tablets on ebay in october last year for just £7 but because of these been so popular now due to the press coverage its more expensive to get them,i got my mum some the other for £20 for a 28 days course of which that is all i needed but some might need 2 courses but now a days thats not even 100 cigs and ive felt brill ever since, just google Tabex love.

Yours Paul

I know I keep raving on over the method that I opted for to stop smoking ... but it worked for me. I read a book called Allen Carr's Easyway to stop smoking. I clicked on a page on facebook by mistake and then went on ebay and bought a second hand copy. His method doesn't use any nicotine replacement at all and it was still so easy compared to willpower method. You are doing brilliant by the way ... but if someone could turn your mind on to thinking like a Non Smoker just by reading a book ... would you give it a try? It can't hurt as you are already a non smoker and my copy only cost £2.50 ... and i stopped with no side effects ... just a week thinking this isn't so bad .. and 3 weeks thinking that's it job done :)

Thanks for all your advice guys, i have found taking a deep breath whenever i feel a mood swing coming on to be really helpful. Started with a sore throat and cough this last week - the joys ha ha but just keeping positive that all the badness is coming out.
