Fahri......:: I’m no medical expert to advise you on your question, but I look at it like this..... when you first stop smoking, your asthma may think you are still smoking, so it may get worse for a while, but in the long run I think your lung function should improve!

I dont have experience with asthma but I have read and heard that smoking masks some health issues, asthma being one of them. So chances are after u quit smoking, u find out u have asthma, n so by that logic, it may even seem to get worse. In the longer run, it should improve though (m no doctor n m not asthmatic, so it is purely a guess). If asthma is getting worse and u r worried, please contact a doctor. Also, regarding the time frame you have asked, no one will be able to give u an exact answer on that, as all bodies are different and asthma type/degree will vary between people. Hope u feel better soon. Good job on quitting smoking, in the long run this is going to prove to be the right decision.

Depends. You said asthma, were you medically diagnosed with asthma before? Or are you referring to experiencing 'asthma-like' symptoms post quitting, for the first time?

If you had asthma before, then the quit may temporarily exacaberate it. But it would best to get it checked by the doc instead of worrying yourself.

If on the other hand you are experiencing dyspnea due to quit alone and there arent any underlying causes, then it usually gets better. There was a time last year when I used to gasp for breath every waking moment. Post quit, it persisted for about 9 months until it finally disappeared. Now i dont experience any sob at all.

So like I said, it all depends. Btw I did get checked with a gp as well as a pulmonologist. I strongly suggest you do the same. Good luck.☺
