Relapse
Hi Kevin, great to hear you're going to get straight back on it π
Loads of people here will be able to give you brilliant tips and advice. I personally went cold turkey and kept a list of why I wanted to quit with me at all times so that when I was tempted I could easily remind myself of why I made the decision to quit in the first place.
I know others have used NRT but I'm clueless on that front so hopefully those much more knowledgeable will be able to help you there π
Good luck for Tuesday and just think of this as a little stumble on the way
I also went cold turkey. Download and rad ale carrs book, easy way to quit smoking. You have to be determined .
Probably the best tip I can give you, Kevin is to remind you that you're much stronger than them and relapses are just part of the fight. You go down, you get up again, and seems like that's exactly what you'll be doing on Tuesday. Good for you! I wish the best.
Goodmorning Kevin βοΈβοΈβοΈ It's okay.... You want to quit and you will ... You have to have a personal reason why you need to quit.... Mine was stroke... Women in my family who smoke have strokes... Scared me into quitting .... Find your reason and you will do it xx
Hi Kevin,
Well done for at least trying to quit. Are you going cold turkey, or using nicotine replace ment product.
Have plenty of snacks placed around the house, when the craving comes along try a snack. Drink plenty of water too.
Have a browse on the hints and tips , on the right of this page.
Dont give up trying. you will get there eventually.
We have all felt the same as you..
Just shout if you need more help.
Take care. xxx
Read the above suggested book(it's short} and gather all the information you can beforehand ... Take the time between now and Tuesday to make a plan. And then go for it!
Hi Kevin,I've quit & gone back a few times, just reached over 2 weeks but I still could quiet easily smoke if I didn't try & keep positive. I have a list of why I want to quit which is always with me & with the help of everyone here,I'm currently winning I'll be 3 weeks free on Christmas Day. Don't pressure yourself it's a very hard battle & but you will succeed π
Don't beat yourself up Kevin and well done for starting again on Tuesday. Have a look at where your triggers are and perhaps write down what plan you can put into action when the cravings hit. Good luck and stay close to this site coz when things get tough, there's always help hereπ πΌππ πΌπ
Hi Kevin. Get straight back on it you are stronger than the addiction when u get cravings think of it as a nicotine terrorist and then think very definitely no we don't negotiate with terrorists. It's helped me anyway. And get plenty of NRT gum and inhalator works for me. Maybe make a point of coming on here every day and posting daily chat that u are still quit. Just a few thoughts. If u can get past the first couple of weeks it gets a lot easier I promise you.
Never trust someone who lies to you and never lie to someone who trusts you. (U did say ANY tips?? lol) Good luck. π°ππππ°ππ₯
Hi Kevin π
Great tips from everyone π
Definitely try Allen Carr, it puts things into perspective for a lot of people.
You've got to be in the right frame of mind as well, positive thinking and remember you're stronger than a little white stick πͺ
Good luck π

why Tuesday...trying to find the right time is like trying to herd cats (book title) but I am curious why Tuesday?ππ
Take advantage of any NRT available,,patches, gum, lozenges, inhalators etc. and don't have access to any cigarettes at all. Get rid of any cigarettes in the house so if you are tempted you have to go and buy some. I personally couldn't have done it without e cigs but have given those up now. It must be the compulsion to put something in your mouth because I find myself frequently chewing pens. Good luck
Kevin I thought I was one person who would never quit , I tryed nicorette gum the classic type. I have now quit near 10 years but still chew some gum.
I would never have quit without it.
I think I'm at one month quit now? I'm not even sure...
It seems like I haven't smoked in years because I honestly hated it and the lower it seem to have over me.
I don't want you to lose hope. It takes multiple tries before quitting sometimes, and that's OK. You've ready succeeded in knowing that you're ready to quit, and you have the confidence in knowing that you WILL quit. Don't be hard on yourself, you're doing just fine, and you'll get there, I promise.
It took me 10 attempts before I decided enough was enough.
Happy holidays to you, and good luck!!!!
