Today at 8:15 a.m. my dad passed away. He suffered 5 years and 1 month of PSP. He passed here in my home, with his wife sleeping next to him, his other children sleeping in the living room and grandchildren sleeping scattered about the house. I held his hand throughout the night, made sure he was not in any pain, and when he took his last breath I knew he was at peace.
It was a journey I will never forget nor would I ever trade any of the moments, good or bad.
I love you so much dad. I honored your wishes and you died your own way, PSP didn't beat you!

I'm sorry to learn your father has passed on. Just yesterday, all of you were in such a hard place. I'll keep you and your family members in my thoughts and prayers.
I think that it made all the difference to and for your dad to be blessed with such a loving daughter / caregiver and family during the course of his illness. I am also so glad that he and your mom were with you and your family so he had a safe and peaceful journey to heaven . I bet he's received one heck of a welcome there ! Sending warm thoughts and condolences to you and your family .

I am so very sorry to hear about your Dad. My Dad died on Friday afternoon, so although our heartache is still very raw, and sometimes we can't believe it has actually happened, they are both in a far better place and free. My thoughts and prayers are with your and your family.
So very sorry to hear your sad news, please take comfort in knowing all that you did for your lovely dad and he is now at peace. Thinking of you and your family.
So sorry to hear of your loss. Take comfort in the thought that your dad is free and at peace now and cannot be hurt by psp anymore. How lovely that you were all with him at the end.
So sorry about your loss. It sounds like you were a wonderful caregiver. No one can feel exactly like you do at this time but your dad is in a better place. I lost my wife two & a half weeks ago so I have some idea of what you are going through. All PSP sufferers go to heaven where they will meet each other & rejoice in heavenly bliss. Good luck to you & your family. Doug
My heartfelt condolences to you and your family. My Dad passed away December 2012 and was also surrounded by all his children, grandchildren and of course my Mom. I think that he like your Dad passed away feeling all the love in the room for him and knew how important he was to everyone. The sadness lingers but remember the happy time.
Hugs

Sorry to hear this. I did worry that this was close when you last posted but with PSP there is sometimes a hidden surge of improvement. He is out of pain now and he was lucky to have you with him. Hugs to all of you. Mum has only been gone 8 weeks so I know how you're feeling. Take care xxx
I'm really sorry to hear of your Dad's passing it must be so hard and everyone on here has either gone through these feelings or is going to go through them in the future.
I actually read your comment about your Dad progressing fast first and thought "oh that just sounds like my Mum" and I was going to reply but then read further and saw he had passed away, I feel for you so much and understand what you have gone through, I feel the same way you explained in your last post you want them to stay but you don't want them to suffer, that is just how I feel it is an awful disease and something that is terrible for all involved.
My heart felt condolences to you and your family at this very sad time xx
Sorry to hear of your loss but your dad, like all PSP patients, was brave and did not let PSP beat him. Now you need to find the same peace that he has acheived, in this life.
