Wanted - designer to assist with special project

Anyone out there with a design background who can design a spouted beaker for an adult with disabilities that ISN'T made in patronisingly juvenile coloured plastic?? One that looks relatively "normal" and like it might reasonably be used by an adult!?!?!?!? Surely it can't be THAT difficult!?!?!

SERIOUSLY - this is the best of a BAD bunch :-(

Hi, when i was at work we used to get these beakers from medical supplies, they are made of clear plastic with a larger spout, your local social workers should know where to get them in your area, or on line? Amazon may do something?

Hi Tisha,

Thanks for taking the time to reply :-) My big issue with most of the ones I've found so far is that they are made of plastic :-( Most adults wouldn't chose a plastic cup and I know Mum definitely like to have her tea from a china cup.

Thanks anyway

DEAR PETER

THANKS FOR REPLYING ;-) MUM'S SPEECH THERAPIST RECOMMENDED A SPOUTED LID TO TRY AND CONTROL THE FLOW-RATE.

I'M TRYING TO FIND A CHINA ONE AS MUM DOESN'T LIKE TEA IN A PLASTIC CUP!! ;-)

HOPE YOU ARE WELL?

That has to be the best so far!! Shame it's SO expensive :-(

It looks like it might be made of china or porcelain but I can't seem to find that information anywhere.

It's certainly the most "normal" looking one I've seen so far

Thank you xxx

Thanks Maddy,

I think I saw that one, too but Mum's speech therapist has recommended a cup with a spout to try and control the flow rate of liquid.

the mug is very expensive , you are suppose to to be able to drink though the hole but my husband has a problem with turning his wrist , on top of that his nose hits the lid as he tries to tip it back . The principal is good particularly if you

have a tremor .

He now uses it safely by using the one way straw through the lid . The one way straw does work fine .

I'm glad you've been able to make it work for your husband :-) Mum's speech therapist has recommended a spouted lid. We have tried straws but Mum seems to have "forgotten" how to suck on a straw!! She just holds it in her mouth :-(

love to both of you

Has anyone heard of Healthy Living Direct? I receive a catalog every 6 months. They have some good stuff in it that might be helpful, also on line at healthylivingdirect.com. They have a china cup with 2 handles with a rounded lip to control flow. i think it would be hard to get a china spouted one as there are safety issues, such as biting the spout. You can buy 2 for £12.98. Hope you find what you want x
