Hi LindanTerry
We are going to New Zealand later in the year to visit our son and family and its something that I had not thought about so will be interested in how you get on. Incidentally, which air line are you travelling with? I've been trying to get some impartial information on which one has the best reputation for care of disabled passengers.
good luck and thank you for posing the question

Hi Dorothy,
Our daughter live near Christchurch and we are going End of Oct until Feb.We are flying with Singapore air ,we spent some 3 hrs at the travel agent trying to find the most comfy route with one stop.we have travelled with Singapore air before they are very good.We will be stopping ove in Singapore for 2nights both ways(to recover),I have also booked assisted travel and requested the two seats at the back of the plane,so it is easier for Terry when he has to get up and down from the seat.I will let you know what the outcome is.
Take care
Kind regards Lindax
I am not aware of PSPA in New Zealand but I will find out if we have any contacts, I am sure the Parkinsons details above will be helpful.
Thank you Jill.
Hi all we have received this wonderful answer from NZ.
Hi Linda and Terry
Have just checked the website ccsdisabilityaction.org.nz – I gather that you are visiting from overseas so I believe the following would apply (as taken from ccsdisability website)
Visitors to New Zealand
‘We recommend that people visiting New Zealand obtain a short-term mobility parking permit, as permits from other countries are not recognised in all regions. The cost of the permit is NZ$35 and is valid for up to 12 months.
- By email – simply download an application form for Overseas Visitors and email it with a scanned copy of your existing permit to:
The Auckland office if you will be arriving in the North Island –
Auckland@ccsdisabilityaction.org.nz
The Christchurch office if you will be arriving in the South Island –
cwcreception@ccsdisabilityaction.org.nz
- By post – if you would prefer to post your application form, addresses are available on the application form, but please allow at least 4 weeks.
We will post your parking permit to your accommodation in NZ. If you want the permit to be posted to your home address, an additional fee will be charged and you need to indicate this when you apply.
- In person – if you are already in NZ you can drop into your nearest branch and obtain a permit immediately – but you need to be able to show your parking permit from your home country as evidence of eligibility.’
I hope this is of some assistance and answers your queries.
Kind regards,
Judy
