Hi. I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My mum who has CBS finds that when she laughs now she blacks out and feels faint. She is finding that this is happening more and more so is worrying. It’s very hard when we try and keep things upbeat but she’s scared of laughter. Any advice please?

My husband has PSP and also has pseudo bulbar which is a condition associated with a catastrophic brain injury or disease. He has pathological laughing fits which results in lack of oxygen to the brain and he then nearly passes out - sometimes he actually momentarily passes out. That’s why it’s dangerous to be anywhere on his own.
It doesn’t sound like your mum has pseudo bulbar (I but I’m not a doctor) and I don’t know how bad your mum’s laughing bouts are, but maybe it’s worth checking the arteries in her neck as they may be narrowed and therefore there’s not enough oxygen going to her brain. Mention your concerns to yr GP.
