Local Authority Funding

This has been mentioned recently in several posts. What seems often to be missed is that the cap on savings applies to individual finances, not to a couple. For those with partners that can make a huge difference! We applied much earlier than we would otherwise have done, having found that out, and completed the online financial self-assessement. It has been accepted that my wife's individual savings are now below the threshold, so she is eligible for support, though our joint savings are well above the threshold. You obviously have to divide joint assets in a credible way. As it has turned out, it looks as though we wil actually be getting CHC funding instead, having passed the assessment just before Xmas. Hospice community nurse very helpul in setting this in train.

Sorry no-one has responded to your post.I found it most interesting but, as we live in France, sadly no use to us.

I'm sure many will find this little-known fact could change their situation.

Regards and good luck.
