Update - Oxygen Saturation

My husband had his follow up with the respiratory nurse today (as per my earlier post we were worried about his low oxygen saturation levels during a previous episode). She had him walking in the corridors for a few minutes while measuring the SpO2. I thought the exercise would increase his values; instead they went from 96 to 88. She said that "such low levels on standing and walking would definitely increase the risk of falling"

With clear evidence confirming there is a problem, he'll be getting oxygen to use at home as a first step. He'll also get referred to look into the possibility of sleep apnea.

As the community nursing team will be following up at home, ironically this gives us another "tick" in the CHC checklist.

I'm still wondering if this is linked to PSP in some significant way - and what the relationship might be? Would anyone else - mobility permitting - try the "6 minute walk" SpO2 test?

I guess the oxygen decrease could be linked to the falls PSP and why people suddenly fall.
