Hi all, I am wondering if anyone has had any success with securing or appealing CHC funding under the Surrey heartlands ICB?
My dad's assessment was in March and we finally received the result two weeks ago rejecting him. However, after reading through the DST, the ICB have changed the scoring (something they are not meant to do). The assessor has omitted evidence I presented during the meeting (I did a whole folder, timelines, diary entries, pictures from injuries of falls, whats app messages, dates of all issues we encounter due to CBD) , referenced outdated medical records, misquotes from the meeting, not used care notes from the care company we use and had a brief conversation with a single member of his MDT team.
I have launched a formal complaint at the handling but they are making life very difficult and I know that appeals will take a long time. I am trying to pursue any support now from the local council but I know that will be limited. Dad desperately doesn't want to spend his final few months in a care home (it's believed he has between 6-10 months left) I was wondering if anyone has any advise dealing specifically with Surrey Heartlands? Even advice from a Beacon CHC solicitors specialist advisor said they are known to be notorious.
Alternatively, as much as I hate to ask this, does anyone have any care home they might recommend in Surrey Woking/ Surbiton area that takes deferred payment? I can't afford to give up work to take care of my dad full time (I'm 35, mom died a couple of years ago) His house is his only asset but I wouldn't have any major funds for his care until it's sold.
thank you x
