Very vague

Evening Tonight my husband went to see his parents, on his return he said his dad didnt look well ie very vague and following his mums every move. On Thursday evening his dad went over the top of his walker and knocked his head on the bedside unit (the back of his head). Not sure if this is connected or just part of his PSP progress. He is 3 years in from being diagnosed now plus about 5 years b4 diagnoses. Maybe 8 years now.

Thank you for reading

PS forgot to say dad also choked on a piece of meat last night so not sure if that bas caused the vague look?

Hi, my first instinct would be to take him to hospital to get him checked out, he may have something else not related to PSP which is causing this.

Hello there

I'm sorry but sudden, unpredicted falls is part of PSP. My Husband would go down like a felled tree, he was a six footer, and regularly incurred head and face injuries which needed trips to hospital to be stuck or stitched back together.

There will come a time when it will be safer for him to move around in a wheelchair and if he hasn't already has one an Occupational Therapy assessment for his needs. The District Nurses may also involved in his care especially if there are wounds to be dressed. Both OT and the DNs will help getting any equipment or kit from the NHS for him.

You Dad may have or be brewing an infection, which will affect how he looks and is.

I'm so sorry you are all on this journey, it's a tough one but there us huge support here and also from the PSP Association.

Sending best wishes

Anne
