Waiting for an ambulance….

My mum is 69, has CBD and as I type we are waiting for an ambulance. The GP has called it and we have been waiting for 3.5 hours already. Mum has been uncontrollably shaking/tremors and is sweating buckets, lying in a pool of sweat after we clean her up. The GP can’t explain as vitals are ok and no temperature but it’s very strange. Mum is slightly grey in colour. Anyone experienced this? The GP has called it in confusion of what could be wrong. Mum has just recovered from a urine infection and is lucid.

I’m so sorry. My husband did this in the very end stage of PSP. Without knowing your story I hesitate to compare your mom with my husband. It was almost like convulsions. I believe in hindsight, he was telling us all to back off and let him withdraw. It usually happened when i or the carers were trying to move and shift him. I think he wanted and needed to be left in peace.

Should our experience help anyone…here it goes as diagnosed by hospital doctor…tremors down to natural progression of disease enhanced by anxiety. The excessive sweating (clothing saturated within minutes) caused by body dealing with severe fatigue caused by tremor impact on body. If not dealt with promptly, kidneys can be impacted due to loss of fluid, salts etc and lactic acid. Mum now in hospital with intravenous drip. This is after a 5 hour ambulance wait and 10 hours in A&E.
